@OZStuOZ Жыл бұрын
@@PlasteringForBeginners yeah I find that with normal plastering, therapeutic, how you can start with something so sloppy, then once it's all done it's so smooth. I don't get opportunities to practice enough, but I do enjoy a bit of plastering. I like what you've done, creating a space in the garage. Might have to give it a go myself! 👍🏼

On a related topic: a coupla years ago, after I'd skimmed my hall and landing, I was painting it with a matt, white emulsion, and because I still had my plaster tools to hand (months after the actual plastering! LOL), I wondered what would happen if I trowelled and polished the top coat of emulsion. I couldn't find anyone else mentioning it on the interwebs, so I assumed it would go horribly wrong... ...but to my amazement, it DIDN'T! I got a beautifully smooth, glassy finish - that was only marred by lots of grey swirly lines and marks in it, presumably cos my trowl was an old (but clean) one. If I had a brand, spangly new one, I'd have tried that. With my eyes shut, it felt like marble - but nowhere near as cold. It gave a finish that looks a lot like this one, but white (and grey). Have you ever tried "plastering" - and polishing - with emulsion paint? Has anyone? LOL
@PlasteringForBeginners Жыл бұрын
Ha that’s very interesting mate. Thanks for the heads up - might have to give it a go myself 😉
@ukvinersmart7571 Жыл бұрын
Yes I did my sons bedroom walls. My reason was I hate painting with roller or brush and just so happened to be looking at my trowel so I thought. Maybe i could skim the walls with emulsion. I actually put the paint on with the trowel. Dipped a brush in paint. Applied that to trowel and skimmed all walls. So flat, smooth no texture like a roller and does polish up like glass. Even though I used just 1 colour it still had that look of layers of a few tones of gray
@MarkMichalowski Жыл бұрын
@@ukvinersmart7571 Yep, that's exactly what I found. I assumed the grey swirls and strokes were due to an old trowel. One day I'll get a brang, spangly new one and give it a go. Wonder how it would work with a darker paint colour....

Hello mate just wondering if you could help / advice about the Venetian plaster. Where do you buy it from I can’t get any of it online it comes up the paint version which I’ve tried and it isn’t as shiny. And what type of dye did you use can it be like black emulsion paint ? And do you have to use 3 coats or would you get away with a base coat then a finish on top. Thanks
