To everyone who is complaining about the game: You realize how much time and effort was put into this right? Code Parade, the orignal creator of the game, had to work hard on not only the 3d fractals, but the physics, hitboxes and contact, shading issues, noneuclideun surfaces and more. I do see things that can be improved, but it's tough to do everything on your own, and what you see here was hard enough. Be grateful.
@AiNaKa

honestly, with the work of a single person, I'm genuinely impressed by this. I don't see anything to complain about but maybe the repetitive music, but that wasn't even him who made the music.
@michaelscott848
@michaelscott848 4 жыл бұрын
I think the main issue with people complaining is not the amount of work put in, that doesn’t make it a good game, but the fact that it is a proof of concept, code parade said it himself, it is not meant to be a good game, it is meant to be an interesting game that proves you can have 3 dimensional interaction with fractals

Of course its hard work, but that doesn't mean its good, you cant praise this as a game because theres another billion people trying to make a good game, everybody puts effort, if they all are praised then it doesn't mean nothing, the game as it is its not good because its only a system to show the fractals, give praise where it should be

You could easily use this for filler terrain mapping on procedurally aided design. Things like horizon zero dawn. That or a texture overlay to a chaotic 3d poly such as mossy water or leaves on a tree ect. Basically proper use of this fractal renderer could save huge amounts of processing power for things like open worlds or travelling instances like tunneling through a planet or just anywhere you need "stuff" that isn't a part of your primary design scheme.

in order to render fractals such as these, you have to run complex mathematical operations up to hundreds of times per pixel, per frame. Polygons are way more efficient for games on the whole. Also, since the fractals are essentially just mathematical equations, modifying them to suit your needs in most games is difficult, unless of course the whole gimmick of the game is that it is made of fractals.

@@pixstatic200 You're exaggerating the complexity of fractals. Here is a 4min video by the guy who made this game explaining how it's rendered: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4aTiYmaq7aqd6s While it's too involved for a tree in the background I'd say Valroinc Lehre had the right idea for using it for terrain. A game could definitely use fractals without it being a gimmick.

after watching Code Parade's trailer, I saw that a stage was named "don't get crushed". The thought of getting crushed by fractals triggers my trypophobia, so I watched this video just to see someone get to & beat that stage, which turned out looking more like some rectangle-ly industrial bulldozer than something organic. That made me feel better (: once I get over that my curiosity about the later stages will set in and I'll watch someone speedrun the whole game

If this kind of thing could be implemented with objects in a game and sprites in games we might have something really powerful. But there might not be a computer powerful enough to handle all the calculations. I'm noticing it's working within a cube and that cube is being replicated several times. There are in total 8 cubes depending on fractal growth.
