Marble Race: Marble League 2017 E6: Relay Run

The 6th event of the 2017 Marble League (Marblelympics)!
This time the Relay Marble Race!
The Relay Run is very similar to the 5-meter dash, but this time, it's a team effort. Each marble bumps into their teammate to send them along the track, then the next, and so on, trying to get the fourth and final marble to the bottom first. The first team to have their final member cross the finish line first wins.
The event is run in heats, each with four teams that will use all four of their members to compete. The two fastest teams from each of the four heats move on to the quarterfinals. Then, the remaining eight teams are put into two groups of four, and they race again, leaving only the four fastest teams, who race once again to decide the final rankings.

Then Between the streaker and tempers flamed up again after the High Jump, they had to raise security again. I guess the O'Rangers didn't care for Momomomo coming on to the playing field to celebrate with his teammates.

It's really fustrating to watch oceanics miss the finals twice in a row with a photo-finish third place, while having a better time than anyone in the other heat. The real olympics uses overall time and not heat wins to determine who advances to the next round. The IMC should consider switchinng over to that fairer system, which rewards owerall performance and not how you did against possibly weaker oponents.

Thats not really true though. In the Olympics the top X number of racers from each race advance as well as X number of fastest losers. There could be someone faster than the slowest autoqualifier that doesnt make the fastest losers. This system wouldnt work so well with the Marblympics because there is a set 16 teams so it divides evenly into how semis and finals.

@@Wolfeson28 That’s something I can get behind. I will admit that this could be potentially beneficial for one team in certain events and that is the Oceanics in water events. I ran the numbers for the 2017 Water Race and the 2020 Triathlon, two water events where the team missed out on advancement and place 3rd in their heat en route to a 9th Place finish in the event. Using your suggestion of the winner of the heat advancing and the rest of the slots based on time, I ran the numbers (aka the finishing times), and it turns out that their numbers (the 13.8 Sea ran in 2017 and the 31.50 Shore ran in 2020) would’ve been good enough for advancing to the Semi-finals.

Really disappointing from my favorite, team primary. Not sure what happened there because it was all off camera, but I can't imagine there had been any foul intent. Maybe in the heat of the moment it's easy to mistake a phantom sensation of relay passing for the real thing, and then nerves take over... I dunno. Well, they're written off for the rest of the event, I guess. They'll do better next year. In the meantime, go pinkies!

Limers really are the Overdogs. They have very strong starts and absolutely dominate early-games with early-leads, you see it with the Fidget Spinners where they were undefeated into the finals, you see it in these races where they usually start off in the lead when they win. They just can't make up ground after they fall behind and they so often choke in the finals Its really disappointing as a Limers fan to see it happen again and again this olympics.
