While it's absolutely a developer's nightmare, I love all the weird shit that happens from simply having stuff like a teleporting character and an object-summoning character in the same game.
@ZachAttack60892 жыл бұрын
It's super interesting. Sometimes these unexpected interactions can even become an important part of the game. The term I've heard for it is "emergent gameplay." The classic example of this is the wavedash exploit in Super Smash Bros. Melee. There's one mechanic where you can press the trigger in midair to perform an air dodge, which gives you some invincibility and can be used to change your momentum, but leaves you vulnerable afterward. And you have another mechanic where landing on the ground cancels whatever move you're doing, but keeps your sideways momentum. By combining these, if you air dodge diagonally towards the ground, you get the momentum change, but then hitting the ground stops you from becoming vulnerable. So you can essentially give yourself a boost to the left or right any time you're on the ground if you can do the inputs, and immediately start another move while you're still sliding. Some other examples off the top of my head are rocket jumping, bunny hopping, backwards long jumps in Super Mario 64, counterstrafing in Counter-Strike, flip resets in Rocket League... Emergent gameplay is always fascinating to me because it's almost impossible to create good emergent gameplay intentionally. It's usually done well in "systems-based" games, where the game is designed with a lot of simple and interconnected systems to try to encourage unique combinations. Games like Breath of the Wild are basically built on emergent gameplay. It's super fun to find new way to combine all of a game's mechanics.

@chickenbob5622 жыл бұрын
@@ZachAttack6089 yeah true i also love that and you gave good examples for that actually i think what is also a thing, is in final fantasy 14 there is a thing called "slide casting" in ffxiv you have cast times where you are not allowed to move if you move, it cancels the cast but if you start moving when the cast timer only has like 0,55 seconds left, you can move and still finish the cast it's because the delay from client to server, so the server thinks you already finished casting but you are still able to dodge boss mechanics and can cast your spells if you do it right since the developers can't really change that, they adjusted the newer very high difficulty content to the slide casting "mechanic"
@ZachAttack60892 жыл бұрын
@@chickenbob562 Oh that's really interesting. So the worse your ping is, the more generous the timing? Weird. Couldn't you abuse this really easily? Like, you could set up a lag switch and bind it to the same key as your casts, so as soon as you cast a spell you can instantly start moving again. Or is there some reason why that wouldn't work?
@sable76872 жыл бұрын
honestly i think having the tracer recall into what could be a precarious position makes more sense with her lore, and would incentivize tracers to be more careful. it would also be funny if in lore tracer just does not trust any kind of vehicle in fear of recalling behind it(like the jets she used to fly)
@monokumasussy9685 Жыл бұрын
If she recalls, then can’t she blink back into it?
@outspade Жыл бұрын
@@monokumasussy9685 depends on how fast its going. i also personally wouldn’t enjoy being teleported out of a moving vehicle even if i could re-enter it
@arhis1026 Жыл бұрын
It's actually an interesting thought, because if tracer can recall and land on earth instead of space (because the earth, out galaxy ect... moves) then by that logic, souldn't she be able to recall safely in a plane or a train? It still seems somewhat counter intuitive. In the end it just comes down to the iner workings of her recall and general time-controlling abilities, which is not extremely clear in canon
@mythicvoid8568 Жыл бұрын
@@arhis1026 If I were to have a guess, I'd say that, when Tracer recalls, her body physically rewinds itself from the point of activation. This is in reference to the way the ability seems to function in the Alive cinematic, which I honestly think works perfectly for matters of spatial coordinates -even when accounting for the movement of celestial bodies. To give an example, recalling in a moving vehicle wouldn't result in her appearing outside because her body is rewinding relative to the motion of the vehicle. Were she to rewind after having recently left a vehicle, however, she should appear roughly where the vehicle was at the time rather than back on or inside. In that instance she'd likely retain the momentum of the vehicle after she finishes recalling, as well, which might... be unpleasant. Getting that to be reflected in game would probably be a pain in the arse, though, so we'll probably just have the coordinate system indefinitely.

For 1: It's almost impossible no not get POTG unless nobody pick a hero Even placing a spray, using voice lines or emoting do add "POTG points"
@Ygr3ku2 жыл бұрын
@@videojenico While this might be true, it's funny to see it happen. I'll try it in a custom DM. But I have a different question: HOW are potg's prioritized? I mean... (and I'll give a few examples from, let's say 1 competitive match) So, in this match, we have: > 1 Junkrat that kills 3 players with his Riptire, but 1sec after those kills, gets killed by (whoever) and his passive nades kills that person (so 4 kills in total in less than 5sec) > 1 Reaper that has 4 kills with his ult > 1 Widow that does 1 body shot, 1 headshot and kills said Reaper while he's still in his ult, right after he gets the 4 kills (Widow's order of kills might differ, but the point of dmg done and hits still stands) Who will get POTG? How is it prioritized? By dmg done in said amount of time? By dmg and order of dmg? Shutdown plays an more important role if it's at the start or at the end of kill streak? All the kills listed above could be outshined by a Ana that Nano a Rein and heals all his dmg taken while being Nano'ed? Or by an Moira or Zen that heals all the dmg taken, while all the players are caught in a Graviton (Grav+Dragon, Grav+Reaper, Grav+Soldier ult, you get the idea) I'm just curious about how the potg system works.
@videojenico2 жыл бұрын
Myself, can't really tell what the game prioritizes to pick a POTG. I have experienced pretty much any kind of POTG, and I believe there are too many factors for it. I'd say one of the main priorities are environmental kills + the damage you deal by killing enemies that way. As an example, I got POTG last week by killing a roadhog and a sigma by pushing them to the water on Rialto by using whole hog. They were just 2 kills, but they were environmental kills + around 1000 damage + being done with an ultimate. The game chose my play instead of the 4k rocket barage or the 3k death blossom happening later in the game. I'd say ultimate usage is also a priority for the choice of a POTG since a 3k ult usually gets picked over a 4-5k with abilities/fires. I'd say assists have not really a huge impact, since it's still really hard to get a POTG as Ana with nano or nade. Rein and Zarya ults work differently tho. You'd get assists if a teammate kill the shattered/grav'd enemies, but they actually count as kills for Rein/Zarya. For Shutdown POTGs I believe you must kill someone during their ult before they kill any of your teammates, which I believe, it's prioritized over multikills. And for support POTGs, you must heal a LOT, absorb a lot of incoming damage or get 2-3 kills in combination with heals/assists. I think rezing a teammates might have the same value as a kill. In the end, I have not much of an idea in how the system works
@Ygr3ku2 жыл бұрын
@@videojenico You sum it up pretty well, not gonna lie. In 6 years of playing, seen loads of odd POTG's, so odd that in some cases, I've seen Reaper getting 4 blossom kills losing to a Junkrat that used mine to drop someone out of the map and hit some other players with primary weapon (no further kills). Whenever I have an idea of how it works and I think I've figured it out, gameplay sometimes proves me wrong and gets me back to square 1. I don't know anymore. I think it's time to drop the quest of finding how this works! Thanks for your reply!

Fun fact: the position being relative to the platform the player is standing on is also an important requirement for networking. If it wasn't implemented, your game could display other players standing on top of invisible geometry, because you see the players as they were in the past but you see the platform as it is in the present. Try to play in a different region and you will notice players slightly "snapping" and "unsnapping" from moving platforms. The bigger the lag, the further the teleport.

TF2 custom maps and Gmod held their magical feel with how easy it was to fly around. Constant racing and competition for whatever the game has as its objective wipes away from the realism and firmness of the game itself. I don't know if I'm able to find my way to custom maps or maps with custom objectives to find the chill factors that gave TF2 its special place in my memories. Some maps were god damn beyblade arenas with almost no space, but one or two levels providing a one or two more ways to push on enemy spawn. Engineers had their own spot on the map and if did well you could hold position on the shortcut and build tps, dispensers, and turrets, then just chilling out there. Oh yeah there was no objective to end the game, and so you could build a setup to push the enemy team out, but as how the map was it still was possible for them to fight their way pushing the opponent out. So it was just fun, and no factors to make you think about your skills or whatever mmr rankings are these days with ranked games and such. Even quick matches/games are loaded with

I'd like to see a video about another ice wall glitch where you could place it down as the shuttle doors opened on KOTH maps to place the wall at an angle, then anyone standing on the wonky ice wall as it broke would have their perspective shifted so it looked like they were tilting their head, and to other players the entire character model was leaning over. This also allowed you to literally fly if you held whichever direction key now corresponded to up as if you were walking into the sky. Easily one of the funniest and weird bugs I've ever seen in a game.
