AI is trying to be smart, what is this? - Civ 5 China Ep.2

Decided to play some Civilization 5 because why not. Playing as China on a pangaea map, epic game speed. No mods, other than Enhanced User Interface.

You really should let your units cross by the fountain. Very nice to see that unmodded AI after ages manages to make some progress in terms of smart behaviour. Also very nice to hear that this game is still able to make you freak out a bit. 😉 Hope you'll recover entirely soon, now give 'em hell!

With Enhanced User Interface, you can look at AI profile icon at top right corner, it shows the resources and luxuries icons. On top means they will sell, on bottom means they will buy.

In case your economy starts struggling, you can sell your only luxury copy since fountain of youth would make up for the lost happiness. Also extra healing promotion from the fountain would help a lot

Forts serve as canals in civ5, so you can build a fort on the desert tile when you get the tech, and some galleas can help bombard Ankara.

Are you sure that's true in vanilla Civ V/BNW and it's not a CBP thing?

@@o0alessandro0o I just tested it, and it seems I was mistaken. Ships can't enter forts in vanilla civ5. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever played a game of vanilla civ5, the CBP and other such mods were always something I used! My mistake.

@@CorbettK42 Probably why CBP added it as an ability to the vanilla fort. Honestly, a coastal improvement (doesn't have to be a fort) that is passable for both ships and land units doesn't seem like a game-breaking thing, I have no idea why it's not part of the vanilla game.

Marbs, how do you decide when to end an episode? When I'm gaming, I can play something for hours and then after a long time I stop and wish I'd taken a break sooner.
