MARC Train Ride from Baltimore to BWI (BAL-BWI)

Hey guys! As you can probably tell, I love to travel, and therefore, I love the different ways of transport. Airplanes are my favorite, but trains (while they suck in the U.S.) are still something I love to travel on as well - and make videos about :). In this video, I'm traveling from Baltimore's Penn Station (located in downtown Baltimore) to the BWI train station a short drive away from the airport itself. I would say this is probably the best and cheapest way of getting to the airport from the city center (only costs $5). The trip is only about 20 minutes with 2 stops along the way, so I'd say it's worth it. Hope you guys enjoy!

Back when BWI airport station opened, I had to take Amtrak there from Union Station as on Christmas, MARC didn't operate on the weekend or holidays. I got there with over 3 hours to kill before my flight, but I got to Denver to see my Mother in time.

Do you think that you are gonna do more reports on the Amtrak NE regional maybe going up to New York or Boston?

Yah mate definitely! I've been wanting to do more train trip vids for a while now, however I've been in Pittsburgh for a couple months due to this virus, but whenever I get back on the east coast it's definitely high on my list again, especially something longer going up to NE ;)

LOL. they need to fix that announcement. track Gate EEEEEEEEEEEEE track 6. Then again the trains gone by the time the announcement is over. Wonder what that line at 3:01 used to be or went?

Kevin Howard I think it is an old line where freight trains used to run through Baltimore. If you can think of where the Jones Falls Expressway is, there are tracks on one side where freight trains used to run. They aren't used anymore tho

If that particular train is a thru train southbound, the NEC is NOT electrified south of Union Station (such as to Richmond, VA). Further, Ivy City (at Union Station) is MARC's only marshaling yard - all three of its lines (Penn, Brunswick, and Camden) meet there - only Penn is electrified. Neither Camden (which semi-parallels Penn) or Brunswick have marshaling space - they both use Ivy City for that. (Worse, Ivy City is also shared with AMTRAK and VRE - not exactly a lot of extra space.) Look around Ivy City (both sides) and notice how chockablock it is - even during the day.
