i know that if a weezer biopic ever came out itd probably be about the blue and pinkerton era but i actually think the green-maladroit-make believe era would be even better for a movie, rivers went through a whole ass character arc during those years 😭

I think they would make the mistake of trying to cover Blue through Make Believe, to get that whole "Band formation to band being happy" thing biopics always do. I'm hoping a biopic comes out one day that focuses solely on an artist's first album. Every one I've seen glosses over a band's beginnings, making music industry success seem a lot easier than it actually is.

As a Make Believe defender myself it's incredible just how much of Rivers' guilt and remorse you can feel throughout it. Even songs like Beverly Hills and We Are All On Drugs feel more like moments of relapse before being plunged back into his insecurity and loneliness. It's no Pinkerton, and it has its downs along the tracklist, but I think people don't give enough credit to just how personal of an album Make Believe is.

Talking through Maladroit (along with your previous videos) gives such a good perspective that you yourself even acknowledged, your original video being closer to that common fan sentiment of confusion, and this one delving into Rivers' mind and situation that led to everything that MB became.
