She’s actually a pretty accomplished musical theatre artist in Korea - so unexpected to see her included in this video, but what a pleasant surprise!! (And that sound the older woman makes is a pretty cultural thing for Koreans, too! Like whenever they hear/see/experience something that is satisfying, they’ll make that kind of noise.) I only found this channel about a week ago, but I'm so in love with your energy and personality, your positivity and passion for singing. (I'm not sure how that got so alliterative, but I was on a roll there when I was interrupted by what is either two racoons mating or trying to kill each other, or the aliens really have landed and they sound like pissed off racoons) They disturbed my poor Border Collie so much she had to abandon her favorite sleeping position, which is on her back, all 4 legs slowly morphing from splayed to akimbo. She actually had to roll over on her side and go back to sleep. If humans attack, she's got me covered. Anything alien, monster or supernatural and I am on my own, she's made this abundantly clear to me. Since she did save me from an attack from a guy I didn't see in the shadows till she whipped me around and tried to rip his throat out, I've accepted her terms. Let's see, where was I before the racoons started? Ah, yes. I just felt compelled to tell you that upon short "acquaintance" (KZbin is pretty much as close as I come to interacting with people) that I really enjoy your content. My dad is one of those people who can't read music but can pick up any instrument, listen to the music and then just start playing. And he has a nice voice, though he's shy. about anyone hearing it. His family actually had a band in the 60's in upstate NY. Played the local bars and are still remembered out that way. My brothers used to play guitar. I have no musical talent whatsoever. I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. When I'm not listening to Tom Petty or one of Jack White's many iterations, I enjoy finding recordings of buskers, and that usually leads me down such interesting rabbit holes. I became an addict to the online show, American Routes when it was on my PBS radio station. It's 2 hours of music that I had never heard in my life. It taught me to love the Blues, Bluegrass, and even Country -- real country, like Hank Williams country. If you've never heard of it, do yourself a favor and check it out. It literally sets the foundations of American music and takes you on this musical journey, that even I, daring only to sing in the car with the windows up so as not to torture any innocent as I belt out American Girl with Tom Petty (that song is around 40 years old. Listen to it and tell me if you were an 18 yo kid that you wouldn't know that was written in the late 70's. I was listening to a group called Rainbow Girls singing Downhome Girl, and fell madly in love within about 30 seconds, and now I just bounce around finding all these talented performers I'd never hear otherwise. The Carolina Chocolate Drops were just busking and doing college and fairs for a long time, and Rhiannon Giddens is so incredibly talented it's unreal. For fun try Brothers Moving or Abby the Spoon Lady. Try artists that can't be defined by genre. I'm about a decade behind the rest of the world, but I get there eventually. Thanks for the content. I have to go deal with the alien racoons.
