Dynamic performance of an incredible piece. Ulf just slays the dragon! And that organ is phenomenal.

The articulation in Resurrection is a clinic on technique and skill - in complete context with the music. Simply wow. Bravo!!!

I understand Marcel Dupre' improvised the Symphony Passion from a set of notes handed to him and played it for the first time on the Wanamaker Organ.

Ulf Norberg is an incredible genius of a man, a virtuoso; I could and do listen to him for hours nonstop. As seen here, he's amazing with his command of the French repertoire (helped not a little by the innumerable wonders of Hedwig Eleonora's stupendous resources), but as with most organists (not just picking on him) there's regrettably too often a lack of understanding of Bach's Germanic and Lutheran mindset for music and the organ. Regardless, this is a wonderful addition to my music library I will treasure as I'm always on the lookout for anything by Norberg as he is sure to be marvelous. Another great organist peer of his is the great young Spanish virtuoso organist Raul Prieto Ramierez, kzbin.info

Oops! Sorry, that's Hedvig (with a vig vs a wig) Eleonora.

Moreover, I have now heard movement 2. It is heartbreaking how he plays the end. No-one has come close to emphasizing the 'farewell' of the Magi as he does - the B flat offset against the F sharp Major marked on the score for that rarest of string timbres - that Frankinsense of organ tone - and then the consonance - after all that slow 'footprints in the snow' in the canonic evocation of the footsteps of the Mages approaching from afar the crib. He gives this antithesis an artistic value which has never been seen before. String and flutes contrasted; dense lush thicket of F sharp contrasted with the innocent openness of an almost bird-call which is half way between a declaration of Fate (a la Beethoven) and a springtime cuckoo (a la Daquin). No, really.

PS He's given one of the best interpretations of Vierne's 6 Organ Symphonies. Just incredible. The URLs of Maestro Ulf Norberg's marvelous renditions of Vierne's six organ symphonies on KZbin: #1. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZyvm6KapK5khqM #2. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYemdXekn8l7is0 Unfortunately KZbin has blocked his great performances of #s3-6 as unavailable. Sad. Hopefully one day soon someone will put corrupt KZbin out of business for all it's intolerant blocking of what it doesn't like, too often for no legitimate cause.

Sorry, but the entire last page is simply wrong. He just flew right through the magnificent finale at an aburd unmusical speed. Not good. Has he not ever heard the Dupré recording? I feel cheated of a great ending. The entire movement is too fast. Dupré indicates "allegro moderato," not molto. It should not feel in cut time. But rather 4/4, as the composer clearly indicates in the time signature.
