I reckon the biggest issue between frost and unholy previously was that frost was considered 'braindead' but you could get 5% more dps with unholy and it felt more engaging(more things to keep track of, more buttons)....But in warwithin frost is just like consistently 20% better overall than unholy lol

Chain pulling feels really good on unholy, especially when the mobs arent living a long time. That way you can carry your festering scythe procs over to the next pack. Starting from scratch each pull UH will never do damage from bursting wounds and will mostly rely on plague and epidemic damage

I've played Frost DK since Wrath. Unholy just does not grab me, and the recent rework for Frost has sorted some of the annoyances I had with it for many years.

I play DW razorice/crusader-DB/SB and I’m happy. Double on use trinkets with my pillar windows. I think it is a lot of fun and because I pug most of the time, I never have to worry about breath windows. Also, the single target on bosses can actually get really insane.

I will always favor unholy, but that doesnt takeaway how fun frost is, even though frost lacks some more depth and variety that unholy has atm. I will say, frost is gonna scale like crazy by the end of the expac. Imagine having 45%+ crit, the amount of km procs which will feed into glacial advances in aoe, icy death torrent procs, pillar extensions (to a degree) with long winter capstone. Hell, if you play with shattered frost, those procs will apply razorice more often for bigger shattered frost/frost strike damage overall (even though that capstone and frost strike could use buffs). Actually insane.

I am a warrior main but always want to try Frost DK. So i gave it a shot. Playing 2x 1H didnt work for me and as you said i too felt that playing breath is completely relied on tank and their pulls. Sometime they pull very slow in pugs and i had to hold breath. So i went 2h shatter with rider. So far enjoying it. Worst part is had to do lot of alt tabbing once i see 5x Razor ice stacks

I'm maining Frost this time around because of class fantasy. I used to be really torn between the two, but rn I'm not a big fan of being forced into picking Abomination over Army to deal better damage. I much prefer raising an army of skeletons over a big blob of flesh covered in flies.

Most of Unholy's damage is in it's CDs. If you are not using them as often as possible you will suffer... A lot. They are short CDs too so use them often because the damage outside of them is not great

I switched from Unholy to Frost around the start of 11.0.7 and my DMG and fun factor went up 5 fold. I mained unholy all throughout Dragonflight and I got my M+ Mounts, and 2500 score every season for reference. The play style is much better with dual handed frost. The set up phase for each pack wasn’t satisfying for me on unholy. You have to hit Virulent Plague, drop Delife, unholy assault, apocalypse, dark transformation, summon your abomination, and spam scourge strike to do cleave. With frost I have like 4 buttons to press consistently and it feels more intuitive to me.

Hi guys. This is not DK specific but I am looking to get back into WOW for the first time since Shadowlands. I am wanting to play a tank or healer (I have a natural preference for playing a healer). I will be starting from scratch and just want to focus on one character. What class would you suggest for a mixture of fun and engaging healing/tanking wise when running dungeons but also fun and entertaining for solo content? I am tossing up between Druid for guardian and resto, Shaman for resto (and maybe a bit of melee with enhancement), MW Monk, Prot Pally, or Holy Priest. Thoughts?

I started again to like a month aggo, i quit mid shadowlands back than. I started with resto shaman and its very good in this expension and plays really nice. And my alt is prot palading, very easy to start with tanking en it just has it all.

As long as frost functions the way it does now, it will always be held back. The single target scaling is sooo bad due to the need of so much crit to even have the spec function (good aoe though). Wish it would a real rework. UH as well... Wounds have been stales for years.

I love frost and played it for many expansions but due to reasons (known and unknown) I seem to have gotten lousier and lousier at playing it. Either its become too frantic or my latency is kind of rubbish, I find myself having to stand closer to do the attacks and that gets me killed. I switched to unholy and have had an easier time staying alive, plus its less punishing for me to be out of range because of a mechanic (I play very cautiously due to just not wanting to be the liability). RNG doesnt help either with haste gear dropping more than crit gear.

3500 at the end of last season, mained at the start of this season, and one day my dmg was just terrible. I went from topping meters by a mile to barely being 2nd. At some point this got shadow nerfed. Or my haste is just low which 26% doesnt seem terrible but maybe. I gave up and started playing fire mage and almost 3k on that bad boy

Problem I’m seeing is, the meta has too many people that only play it BECAUSE it’s the meta, when in reality they have no idea what they’re doing. Usually with unholy dks, I can invite them and know they will pump. Frost dks? It’s a gamble if they’re gonna be amazing or just god awful. I hate the meta, it has ruined this game

I play tank and I've noticed that most frost pugs are terrible (keys 8-10) and idk if it's because they all try to play breath but it just doesn't work out? Whereas I don't think I've had a bad unholy in my groups. But that's just my pug key experience

I feel like the people who struggle with complex specs tend to go frost, and there are alot of those people out there. But with unholy you either love it or dont and the people that play it are usually good at it. Im an unholy die hard main and im as biased as you get tho so i could very well be wrong.

Exactly, since frost is fotm right now there are tons and tons of bad ones. But given an equal skill level, frost will not only outdps uh in terms of overall, but also contribute the more meaningful dps since the unholy profile is as flat as a female belf chest.

Idk guys, this video feels more like spreading misinformation than actually providing vital information. BoS requiring an experienced tank and a high keystone level to work is such an outdated take. This is not bfa where a 60s breath was required to make it worthwhile and where you were basically doing zero dps outside of it. Any breath of 20+ seconds in ST or 30+seconds in AoE is perfectly fine. Yes, in low keys when coupled with flat AoE bots like Retpal you wont get that. But then again, you'll be wrecking the shit out of Prio Mobs and Bosses, which wont show up as much in the meters, but still save a loooot of time. Keys are not timed through amazing overall numbers, but efficient time savings. And well, claiming Frost DK being simple and 'boring'. This coupled with 'doesnt work well in lowkeys indicates a you issue. Even daring to say firemage is 10x more complex is such a wild take. Triple ressource management along with multiple maintenance buffs to track? Two completely different rotatations in one spec? Frost is slim on keybinds, but every tiny bit of its kit IS extremely meaningful and equally punishing if messed up. But as an upside, feels just as rewarding. Frost features a very high skill ceiling, has an Insane profile and is by far the tankiest dps spec. Thats why it is meta. And hands down the best melee dps spec.

Create M+ soloq or game will die for many of us. M+ is only cotent which i can afford to do asi time limited solo player and its unbearable. This is not only blizards fault, but us players aswell. Premade group is such prehistoric concept which only creates space for toxicity such as inviting only meta spec or overgeared(from weekly vault KEKW) individuals which still fails in the end. Just create proper soloq and especialy be strict on punishing griefers and leavers.

A que for mythic plus beyond a +4 would be a disaster imo. Though i do sympathize with the difficulty the premade group finder presents. But with a que and Not being able to optimize group comp, depleted keys all the time when things inevitably dont go well, it would alienate alot of people. The easier answer is for solo players to find a guild and do dungeons with friends, as cliche as that sounds. Its a social game and mythic plus is 1000000% more fun with a group of friends. Trying to be a solo player in wow seems kinda crazy to me tbh.

Frost just fits the dk fantasy better, in my opinion. This behemoth that pulls you, freezes you to death and blasts you with chunky crits. Very similar to Arthas. On the other hand unholy feels like it gravitates more towards the necromancer class fantasy. I think it's a similar case to how they took Metamorphosis from the warlocks and gave it to the dh. Unholy currently borrows so much from the necromancer class fantasy, that it prevents necromancers from becoming a proper class.

Meta specs is just boring. Constantly swapping to be the "best" in whatever. Doesn't no one care about putting time into a character in an rpg style game anymore? I've put 19 years into my Warrior main and am damned if I'm swapping every week/month. I've stuck with it and have seen the benefits and the nerfs and rolled with them instead of quitting to a "better" class just to be popular. Let's put all this meta bullshit to bed and get back to caring about adventuring and the storylines.
