11.0.7 Gearing and THE NEW SUPER RING!

Patch 11.0.7 is right around the corner and I went through it on the ptr, looking at how gearing will be affected through the new cyrce’s circlet ring and how much excitement is around this new “borrowed power”. There are plenty of 11.0.7 changes but I’ll take them separately as for now we are looking at the loot. 11.0.7 class changes will be covered at a later date :)

Look I’ve been playing this game for 20 years now and the best advice I can give to not get bored is to just go play something else for a while. Come back when a new patch or something drops tinker around with it for a little bit and then go back to playing something different. It will help keep the game fresh and it’s how I’ve stayed on for so long myself. I understand that’s easier said than done because this game fits into a certain slot in our lives and it’s not easy to fill that spot with something else. With wow in its current stage, you can just jump in and play for a little bit. Get some stuff done and then feel like you did something then go log off

@ well I have done a bit more than that. I just stopped raiding and doing serious group content years ago because I don’t have the time. I still play quite a bit but in my free time which could be random. Think the last real Guild raiding I did was BFA. Ish. I can’t commit to a schedule. Still I’ve gotten a good amount of time playing through the content. I just do LFR to see the raids nowadays and then go back and solo content for transmogs and stuff later on. Last big break I took was when BG3 came out I took few months off only peeking in to do a few things. Now I just weave my days gaming between whatever console game I’m playing. Still WoW is my hobby I enjoy it but if I’m too bored then I play another game. Doesn’t mean WoW hasn’t always been my thing. Little history. I was hoping for wow even before I knew wow was a thing. When Warcraft three came out I was playing EverQuest. I took a break. And fell in love with Warcraft in a way I never did before. It made me want to explore that world. EQ just started tinkering around with add-ons so I put together a bunch of stuff to make my game look like Warcraft three so when they announced wow I couldn’t have been more happy but it’s like anything even things you love you have to take a break from, but it doesn’t mean your time is invalidated.

@ I mean, it’s not really more of the same because shadow lands didn’t even feel like wow. There was some cool elements, but the whole way everything was tied together was so weird and surreal. It’s really not that hard figuring out the things to do each week and you don’t even have to do them so much because if you don’t like the content, just wait for the next patch and do that and if you don’t like that, do the next one up until the end of the expansion when you can catch up And do a little bit of everything. One of the great things about the game nowadays is that you don’t have to be a slave to it.

I'd love actual alt catch-up mechanics like increased crest drops and VALOR DROPS. Not just from M+! The idea of needing to do 50+ dungeons just for crests and not gear makes it off putting to play an alt.

The ring unlocks are stretched over 6 weeks. However the catch up is rather generous. Basically you have little to no reason to grind the ring for the first 4 weeks, utilize the catch up in week 5 and are on par with everyone once week 6 hits.

I came back from not playing WoW since MoP. What's offputting for me with the m+ is that it's expensive AF, and the rewards are few. 30 min runs, 1 death costs 150g+, flask 150g, pots 10g/each. and at the end of it you get 50g, feeling like you get 1 item/6runs. took about 14 runs in Ara Kara to get the trinket, did another 14 runs in Stonevault for a belt. does not feel rewarding when you join a group that bricks the key, wipes 3 times and leaves. 800g repair, flask, and pots and you get nothing for it. And that's just for 1 run. playing only m+ is a net loss every run, the only time you come out on top is when you run an m+, don't use pots, don't die. even then it's 50g you get - 5-10g repair.

YES!!! but sadly people forget what a themepark mmo is. They cry how catch up gear takes to long in an mmorpg. Its an mmorpg. Why have catch up at fking all. Classic has none. They "balanced" pvp by taking all the trinkets out of an MMORPG- PVP GAME! now everyone has the same stats, and same trinkets, and same talents. Every feral you face in pvp is the same. Every mage is the same. Every spec is played the same. Its literally Rock paper scissors. Mmorpg, is different. I want to farm crazy gear in the World (dungeon, raids also) And run into pvp and BGs and melt people that havent played this much. Now that we have pvp vendors and the gear is all pvp with pvp stat trinket Bonus, pvp is dying. Nobody is playing it. Good job

Who the heck wants to grind a ring right now? Season's pretty much done with for raiders and m+'ers. Even the delve/world content folks are likely geared enough to not really care and can smash the content they enjoy. What am I going to do with it, go sit in lfg for a few hours trying to grind out 11s or 12s when I've already got all my portals? The one group I can think of that might enjoy this is the mythic raiders stuck on later bosses because it may offer a slight boost in power over a regular 639 ring and even that seems unlikely as it's probably not a gear wall they're facing right now. It's wild that they spent all this time on this new grind island instead of fixing actual problems with the season, making mythic raiding more accessible/enticing for the heroic folks (like, removing raid id lockouts, flex, etc), making m+ not an absolute slog, alt catchup, or really anything that enhances the fun. Even the delve folks could do with a bone being thrown their way in the form of extra crests. We could start to put some more QoL in the game like teleports to dungeons/raids/points of interest (like every other mmorpg). We could work on improving the default UI so it's usable past basic content without resorting to weakauras or small tweaks to hte UI (like for nameplates threat, target indicators, buff tracking, a million other things). Could make frontals/swirlies in content have clear defined edges instead of random frog licking you from 40 miles away in a cone that you can't even see.

@DTWD16 Let's compare Blizzard, whose whole design philosophy is to add and remove the same borrowed power mechanics, calling that content. How many times did Blizzard add and remove the talent tree and spells and sell that as an 80 dollar expansion? The fact that their whole new patch is another rehashed mini zone and a ring shows they ran out of ideas since their core design team left. It has been 2 decades, and they can't even get class identity and balance correct. Took them 20 years to finally add player housing content every single other mmo had at launch. So yea, compared to PoE2's to WoW's design philosophy, it is uninspired. I don't blame them, though. If people paid me millions per month for minimal effort, I'd do the exact same.

I loved TWW launch, the campaign and the raid was pretty easy yet fun to play. Delves are a fun side activity too. The anniversary event is pretty much the only thing I'm playing now tho, and just to level up alts. It's pretty boring not gonna lie. I really enjoy the solo aspect of the game but when it comes to competitive content you can see how the class imbalance has killed some of the joy. Tbh I'm happy I was able to get more classes to 80 because it helped me realize what I really want to main this expansion 😁

Sub running out in 2 days. Not going to sub until TWW Season2. Not interested in grinds that will be obsolete in 2 months time. And I am not 100% sure I will come back for season2. I only play M+, and I feel like the old M+ formula aged like milk. They need to overhaul the whole system. We should have at least 20-30 dungeons to choose from to run each season not 8!!! And rating based on your best 10 different dungeon runs. No timer or no key depletion - one or the another not both! End of dungeon chest always rewarding an item for everyone, and on top of that 15 crests, 100 valorstones, and at least 500 gold scaling higher with higher M+ level. They also need to add solo queue with additional rewards if you queue as a tank or a healer. More crests, gold and valorstones should be enticing enough. Plenty of other games to play while waiting for WoW to level up their gameplay experience. "Path of Exile 2" one of them. Git gud Blizzard. No more sub money for your company unless you bring WoW to a whole new level.

I dont quite understand this concept of casual gearing. Are you guys levelling a character for every single spec in the game and you want it up at current expansion's item level? To do what? What are you gonna do with a less than 600ilvl character given that you definetely cannot do mythic+ with it and you are barely contributing in a Normal Raid? I made 4 alts because it's my first time playing WoW and I wanted to try different classes (and they nerfed into oblivion my MM hunter), but I'm definetely not impressed by some Veterean gear when all you have to do is complete a couple of weekly quests and let other pugs carry you in delves to get the champions gear you need to start raiding. Genuine question, what am I missing in this extremely low level catch up gear?

@@Lollonman1 I actually love raiding a lot, but the requirements for it has become far too demanding for me and how I approach games in a more chill way. The addition of delves is why I decided to try TWW and I'm liking it so far, there's no real pressure for pushing timers like mm+ while still providing good gear and a fairly challenging experience. Personally what broke me was Shadowlands raiding, I'm exploring the zones again to get some missing transmongs & mounts I missed and I find it quite good, but back during the expansion there was this constant running for maxing up renown, legendaries, borrowed powers, timegating and covenant locks (before they removed them). There are stuff and things I dislike in modern WoW design (too many currencies, upgrading gear constantly) but I decided to focus on what I like to do rather than pursue the minmaxing, grinding and constant pushing for the top. WoW basically became a job rather than a game. And I have to admit that age also plays its parts, I'm in my 40s now so I approach things casually and in a chill manner. But I still check on news about the raid scenes, follow the world first, how to better play my class, ...etc My current main goal is to beat Zekvir and get the associated achievements, things like this ring and some catch up gear could potentially help so I'm looking forward for it. I'll probably try to get Ansurek aotc but it's not a priority atm

I don't like that every patch has a new thing you have to grind on all of the characters you want to move forward. It's like you're constantly playing catch-up and not being allowed to work on things you want. The game seems to be designed for people who don't have jobs/families and can spend 8-10 hours a day farming and grinding and working on their alts. I don't have that kind of time. I'll probably sit this out completely since I don't raid/M+ and just focus on gearing my alts through delve chests.

When did they state this would ring was meant to last the rest expansion? First time I hear of this. Can't really say I agree with the analysis when you compare it to other rings. The ring doesn't "suck", it's a stack stick mostly as all rings are, except you get to choose what stats/procs you get to apply to it. If you don't like it, you can still get other rings. You don't *need* a guide either, that's some 1% level thinking. I recall all the heavy sweating over the last ring and it blew over. We were *fine* with or without it. All this doomsaying is rather exhausting.

What is the point of offering new veteran gear starting from 584 ilvl where i still need to grind valorstones and crests to upgrade just to immediately replace it with champion and hero and so on.. And also mentioned in this video, game just feels so lazily designed at this point. Even most item icons are copy pasted from past expansions and besides plunder, events are just droning.

I think that you miss the point of this content. It's catch up content to get new characters/alts ready for 11.1. It's not for a main to replace their already 639 ring.

Girls stop cry 😂 this is a patch to give some other things to do till undermine release. The system is to get alts ready and the ring is a help for guys who need better gear to achieve ksm or delf 11 or whatever. So if you only play one char just wait like you want 😅 but its something new todo for me so i can wait with old stuff for new raid or with this.

The entire expansion has been overall dogshit. The m+ season is the worst it’s been in years. PvP participation is absolute barebones with even less dev communication. Hero talents and warband stuff are amazing. Those two things alone is not enough for an expansion at full price let alone a monthly sub. I had more fun in WoD and Shadowlands by far.

Wait...what? Veteran gear in good catch up for alts? My friend, are you insane? It's COMPLEATLY useless, you can easily get a fresh character to 619ilvl in 48h ... and veteran max upgrade is 606, it's LAUGHABLY bad catch up

@Eduardo-o4o Its Simple. Really. Assuming you played your main you either have friends or maxxed out reps...or both. If you have friends its super simple. Get your friends to boost you thru HC and some m+. Done. With bit of luck even under 10h starting from absolute 0. If you have reps: 1. Get your 5 free 619 crafted items 2. Get all gear for kekwCrystals from vendors. 3. Do your bountifull delves (optional) 4. Fill remaining slots with gear from AH...its basicly free 5. This should get you around 600 ilvl in at worst 2h 6. Go spam m+ for the remaining time. If you have both but you have only few friends with little time: 1.Get prep from "no friends version". 2. Run as mamy 10s as your friends are willing to. 3. You no longer look like scrub on pugs so your groups will fill faster, and if by any chance you Play a meta class (or tank or healer) you can even sign to other groups with reasonable success. Aaaaand that's it. And it works. I currently have 7 alts and the longest it took me to gear them up to 619-ish was a week, and the shortest abaut 6-7h ... Going from there to accualy usefull ilvl is INSANELY slow and RNG dependent

Expo is okay, 7 or 7.5/10. That being said, anything below 8.5 to me is a failure in a significant way. I would not reccommend to any of my friends who used to play to come back. Why? Because Blizzard should have done a better job in BFA, in Shadowlands. Listen to our feedback more ? Make changes in a non glacial sliding over the continent pace. Why are problems in M+ still not adresssed ? I've been back for a month and I;m already thinking of was this even worth. I don't see the passsion in the game just pretend for sales, if there was passsion why is not better than legion, wrath, tbc, mists ?
