At this time he spoke no English nor Italian. He had no idea what he was singing. He was homeless from age 7, until age 24. He learned songs by listening to them over and over and copying what they did. He literally sung for his food. He won Philippines Got Talent with this song and was homeless no more. Amazing isn't it

He has never had any vocal training! He was homeless in the streets of the Phillipines from 2 years old until around 16 years old - he was looking for his family. He can sing in 7 languages (neither his own language) but he cannot carry out a conversation in those languages. It is totally amazing! I d0n't know how many times I've watch Marcelito sing and watch every reactions and still, everytime I hear him sing I can't help but have goose bumps, chills and get emotional, That's how good he is, I don't know if you've heard him sing Despacito, gosh! That was awesome and The power of love, He also had a recording "Duet himself" Boy! It's good He even do harmonys', Thou' it's a recording, but it's awesome especially when he switches and combine those voices in perfect harmony, heavens! This guy is amazing.

Neither the English or Italian language is native to Marcelito. He is Filipino. He's singing in a feminine voice, who is probably not singing in her native language. Not mentioning it doesn't mean they don't pick it up. It's like... the least impressive part of what he's doing. Memorizing a song in another language is not very hard. It's not remotely comparable to actually speaking the language. It can be done in under an hour.

I'd say he's just Gifted, don't you? I'm not a Professional but Love to sing. I'm q Die Hard Fan of Marcelito and he's also my Countrymen. I SAW him here in Canada in 219 Concert and he's great, Humble and a very Talented Singer. He grew up very poor and didn't have any Formal Training at all, he just just Love too sing since Childhood! Further, if you believe in this Judeo/Christian myth, why does this capricious "God" give talent to some and not others? Why do Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Wicka and even Atheists have talent while many extremely devout Christians miss out? Don't trot out the usual old Christian line that is produced when their belief is challenged and they can't answer, "The Lord moves in mysterious ways.". The best and worst on the planet is human, there is no "God" involved but if there was that entity is not worth supporting given all the mess they have delivered within their "creation". Christians want to praise "God" given talent and glory in the sunsets and butterflies, while conveniently ignoring viruses, bacteria, disease, natural disasters etc and seem to forget the billions of prayers that go unanswered when they want to praise "God" for answering one. (experiencing this for the first time is special, and we can't do it a second time ourselves :-( thus watch others hearing it for the first time) btw: he doesn't speak any italian, and at that time also english not very well, and yet he did both parts fantastically, and (as some italians commented) almost flawless. ps: since you liked this, you should also react to more wishbus performances ... Marcelito "Power of love", and Morisette ("Rise up", "Never enough", "Akin ka na lang", "Secret love song", and then many more), and after those four suggestions, also a live duet of Marcelito and Morisette of "Secret love song" on the "Wish music awards" next suggestion would be Pentatonix: "Hallelujah" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" (you already did the original by Queen). then there is one more rabbit hole that you can't avoid: Dimash (most reactors start with "SOS" which i find not 'the best' but 'the best introduction to him', like the first chapter of a good book that gets you started), followed by "Sinfull passion", "Love is like a dream", "Your love", and "Unforgettable day" (this has to be the version from GAKKU !!!), "Adagio", "Ogni pietra", "Ti amo cosi" (with Lara Fabian and Aida), and many many other songs and when you reach Lara Fabian, you get to the next rabbit hole, starting with "je suis malade", "Adagio", "Love is like a dream" (yes, the same songs that also Dimash did 10+ years after her; she is his idol) and many others, and you should always prefer her live performances.

There is a wedding video where he sings "Perfect" in Italian. Also on AGT he did a quicky version on "Time to Say Goodbye." He has also got an appearance on Ellen. With a translator as he spoke only limited English.

be aware that all those american shows require songs to be cut down to some specific time to allow for enough commercial breaks. and shows like AGT also often manipulate performances and twist and turn backstory and what is shown, even copying scenes from the finals and pasting them to the semifinals (both recorded half a year earlier) and then suggesting that it might be live. the producers make a small list of songs to select from, and Simon is an executive producer of the show, and yet he said that he was surprised by the bad choice of songs that Marcelito did. Therefore i avoid to watch these shows or performances from these shows if a song is available somewhere in a longer/original version (which is the case with the wishbus "prayer", but apparently not for "con te partiro / time to say goodbye"). privately watch the "less than 2 minute AGT version" of the prayer to see what they have done to the song.

Marcelito Pomoy voice is a blessing from the Holy Spirit being abandoned by his mother when his father was in prison as and the age of 8 he tried to earn his living by doing a pin boy at bowling alley and selling Balot-Pinoy eggs. He had no formal training on his singing prowess and he had not undergone basic elementary studies not high school here in Philippines.
