His story is interesting. His mom left, his dad went to prison. So a guard took him in but he was abusive, so he ran away. He was homeless from age 7 until age 24. He literally sung for food. He won I believe it was Philippines got talent with the song The Prayer and the rest is history. So to speak.

Bisscute, I just had an idea. When you have your Mom react to this blind, make sure to mention that this performance was during a stage rehearsal early in the day hours before a show, a run-through that Celine was not totally happy with. That will absolutely blindside her because Marcelito, although STUNNUINGLY close to Celine's voice here, still puts his own twists on the song and even the arrangement. You may have noticed that he put the verses in a different order while he sang this. I am sure your Mom will also notice. But if you tell her it was recorded during a practice run, I am sure it will totally convince her. I can't wait to see that reaction! :)

Celine Dion's version of this song is also a cover of the original, but like some I would say she's one of a few artist who can sing someone else's song and make it better than the original

Bisscute, Marcelito's cover of "The Power of Love" is very close to Celine Dion's rendition of Jennifer Rush's original. In my opinion, Marcelito's cover is slightly better that Celine's rendition primarily because his twang is slightly less nasal. As you may know, Celine Dion is a French Canadian whose native language is French. She had to learn English to become the success that she is. One of the English words with which she struggles is "love". She has a very slight "r" sound in that word that makes it sound very slightly like "lerv" or "lurv". Now, if you listen to Marcelito's cover very closely, you will hear him imitate her exactly by putting that "r" sound in "love". In an otherwise perfect cover, Marcelito did miss one of the three whistle notes at the end which is why he stuck out his tongue in disgust.
