Possibly the most photographed woman ever, and with good reason. In the photographs and recorded interviews she across as such a genuinely honest, sensitive, and intelligent person too.

@@marklivingstone1067 That's the thing isn't it? It's seems too fantastical to be true, but yet it is. And it's quite remarkable she was able to come as far as she did, she spent her whole life trying to find her father too just to speak to him and she did but was rejected each time, I think that was the most damaging thing that happened to her. Despite all this, she remained a kind hearted person and didn't hurt anyone even as the public and the press started salacious and scandalous lies, rumours and gossips about her. Marilyn/Norma was and is a remarkable woman.

@@lavillablanca That didn't happen with Elizabeth Taylor. I didn't want to believe Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful woman from the Golden Age. After watching videos of Elizabeth Taylor I had to admit she was amazingly gorgeous! There were many beautiful actresses from that era. I don't see any today that even come close. Angelina Jolie is not that beautiful if you really look at pictures of her. I also heard Ava Gardner was the most beautiful woman in the world. I guess it was a toss-up between Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner. Marilyn Monroe had her own beauty like a cute playful kitten. She was adorable and very alluring sexually to men! What Taylor and Gardner had was exquisite exotic beauty. Some say Vivian Leigh was the most beautiful. She was very attractive and beautiful to. But there is something about that exotic beauty that only Liz Taylor and Ava Gardner possessed.

I was gonna post the same thing. I hate when news sites advertise something but it ends up being something else, i.e. click bait. For instance, last week, to commemorate Marilyn's 90th birthday, several online news outlets were advertising about rare footage of Marilyn Monroe meeting Queen Elizabeth II. I got really excited, because it's always fun to come across something new regarding Marilyn, especially if you're a lifelong fan, since childhood, and seen it all. However, it's the same footage we've seen for decades. There are even uploads here on KZbin going back several years.

09 December 1952, my date of birth. 1962 I was in Std V, my age 9. So, Marilyn Monroe influenced the world in my early school years. Left quite an impressiion world-wide especially the film title 'Gentlemen prefer blondes' in 1954, appropriately demonstrated by her. I had fancy hairstyles all my life. 1973 my Chief Air Hostess in Indian Airlines asked me at my age 20, "What do you think you are ? An Actress ?" Here is my Indian Dancing Photo celebrating my 50th Birthday at my younger Brother's IAF Air Force Base, Palam, Delhi on 09 December 2002. He was the IAF Acting Station Adjutant at the time. So, everyone had a great time at my 50th Birthday celebrations. Better than I could ever really imagine.

So many often comment on her appearing sad, yet the majority of photos I see of her, she appears happy. You know why? Because she was an ACTRESS. It was her job to look that way on film unless the role or event called for something different. I’m sure if the paparazzi were hounding Marilyn at her worst times (like they do for ANY big celebrity) then she looked sad, as any of us would. Truthfully, I think many of her fans take some sort of weird pleasure in commenting on her sadness and life tragedies because it allows then to place their perfectly beautiful, innocent child-like creature on a pedestal as some sort of martyr. I wonder if those same people cut the same slack in everyday life for ordinary people with mental health or emotional issues?

That first bathing suit that is an early bikini once the wrap is removed is a favorite of many. The ugly award is from a Golden Globe presentation to Marilyn as the world's favorite female star. She would win this redesigned award again in 1962, the year of her death. Yet, they wanted us to think she was slipping. She was still the biggest star in the world, a status she has retained even in death. The strange velvet gown she wore that night was originally a Gene Tierney gown. She is sitting next to David Wayne, who did more films with Marilyn than any other actor. And on her right is Richard Basehart of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea fame. Later, that gown made of lace and satin worn at a premiere has to be the worst dress she was ever seen in. Even the potato sack mini skirt she wore tongue in cheek looked better than that gown.
