It's March so that means it's time for a spring tour around my Irish country garden! Let's have a look at what the garden is like at this time of year and some of the beautiful things that are growing and flowering.

I thoroughly enjoyed your spring tour. I love how you get excited about each little detail. You have a gift for that. Not everyone sees those intricate little things in nature. It helps me to be more aware of the little things growing. As I type this, it is snowing here in Pennsylvania with a foot of snow on the ground, so your spring video is very uplifting. hi niall, we are in the southern appalachians of north georgia and our plants are about at the same stage of development as yours. our daffodils are in full bloom, the hawthorns have just finished and are leafing out and the first dogwood blooms are just popping. we also have a big spring fed pond and the frog song is a deafening cacophony all night long. so looking forward to watching your garden unfold as spring rolls on!

thanks for the tour Niall! it is a magical time to see everything starting to burst into life. we too didnt really need to plant too many spring flowering bulbs as they were already here but am starting to slowly add to ours as well! I love the wedding cake tree. thanks for sharing your spring with us

It is like Polar Opposites...wherein your Pond sets you up with Frogs, I am with Toads....masses of Toads in my Yarden! :) They form a gel-sack in the soil, the tadpoles live in this under the soil in my flowerbeds. I have to simply watch for the raised mound so as not to disturb them, sometimes it appears as if foam is coming out of the ground...it's the Toads! At night, they all come out and hop across the lawn in the Moonlight, feasting, I suppose! :) I also have Geckos under ever crack and crevice! :) I need to get a Box Turtle!

Its lovely you had such a good mature garden, that also you can improve and make it more yours. I have an ugly concrete pond rectangle. It is full of 3/4-4/5 full of silt !!! But still my frogs lay there frog spawn. A smelly job Im not looking forward to. Dont think the health of your pond before the new pump/ filter deterred frogs/toads if you compare to mine . Think my pond may take weeks to clean.

Ahhh love to see the daffodils coming up in big groups, sure sign of spring! Question re all the ivy growing on your apple trees. I always heard that ivy can choke and kill a tree - is that true? Will you be removing some of the ivy for the health of the tree if so?
