History lesson for you: 75th anniversary of D-Day was in 2019, only 2 years ago, so this march wasn't written for that. This march was written in 1948. Arromanches is a French coastal town in Normandy where, after the initial invasion took place, an "artificial" harbor was built and was used thereafter as a port to unload materiel, soldiers, etc. Some 2.5 million soldiers came ashore in France during WWII at Arromanches. The composer of this march, Albert Kelly, was a soldier and took part in the invasion in 1944. Nice arrangement and playing, BTW!

Right you are! I was a part of the 75th anniversary commemoration in Canada so that’s probably what I was thinking of at the time. Thanks for catching that :)

Where did you find the Arromanches’s march?

Welcome back. If you do get around to it, I’d love to hear your take on Purple Carnival by Harry Alford. That’s got some really interesting TPT/ Cornet parts. I think it would be a great addition to your collection for March Mondays. Otherwise Joyce’s 71’st NY Regiment March.
