A beautiful performance! I love the diversity at FAMU also. SU could learn a lesson here in musicianship. Music doesn't mean fortissimo ALL THE TIME!

Why does someone always bring up SU on a Famu vid? Some people like Coke, some people like Pepsi. Two different styles. It is what it is.

SU plays it at the correct tempo. This is way slowed down

1:36 The transition to Clarinet is very smooth, As if the room had been changed to an auditorium, And I’d been listening to a symphony. 💚 {Also go off percussion 🔥🔥🔥}

This is my favorite TRIO of all time. This is my favorite march as well for high school, and "Make Way for Melody" is my favorite for Jr. High (and I have used this for my band). Very nice trio. Very nice light touch with the sousaphones. Nice CRISP trumpets with nice attacks and releases. You've done an excellent job. When I listened to the album on YT I did NOT think that it was a high school band. When the video came in my feed, I was quite shocked, and I am used to GREAT high school bands, as I fed into Chino High and along with Magnolia Jr. High helped put them on the map.

Oh, I see that you are a university band. I played under Larry G. Curtis, at Cal State U Long Beach. We were the only non-pack 10 band to ever be invited to march the ROSE PARADE and we played GERSWIN down the whole route, along with an old jazz standard, "Ja Da", and some California song like California Dreamin' (beachboys). We marched 350 and played symphonic jazz down the parade route the whole 5 1/2 miles all the way to the fwy concrete building going on. We were a force to be reckoned with. I wouldn't trade my band experiences for anything.

PERFECTION. SO SICK of manic, idiotically overly fast tempos. This rendition was obviously prepared and conducted by a MUSICIAN. THANK YOU!

Def muddy in the woodwinds but that part is difficult and low brass(excluding tubas) was sharp on them octave jumps but other than that it sounded amazing

2:08 the trio always sounded weird to me idk why
@logancampbell79244 жыл бұрын
That's because this is the grandioso. This is basically the trio repeated at the end. In this case it has a good bit going on. There is the woodwind arpeggios with flutes/piccolo and clarinets. The brass has the main trio melody, which is also somewhat heard among the woodwind arpeggios. The baritones and saxophones have a counter melody going over all of this with tubas playing the ground bass. This admittedly can sound like alot at times.

“Marching 100,” yeah, but there are like three hundred clarinets here. They sound like they poached every collegiate first chair clarinet east of the Rockies. ❤️

When I went into the hospital in 2010 I gave my instruments to my friend's daughter's jr. high orchestra, whom I had never met. Why? because the high school director NEVER fostered any comraderie with his two feeders. I had something like 4 trumpets, a semi-pro flute, a semi pro trombone, a couple other trombones, an electronic keyboard, and two saxophones. Altogether around 10,000 of instruments. I wish I would have seen this then, as I would have mailed them to YOU!
