I played this with the Tournament of Roses Band more than fifty years ago. Loved it then. Love it now. I played the Bb baritone horn.

I was in marching band in high school in the early 70's and though we never played this as our regular march, it is a favorite of mine. I still remember hearing the bands that played this at the various competitions we were in. Brings back a flood of memories.

This was one of our standards in the FAMU marching band. I love this march.

Brings back good memories of Rick Marino and the stories he told me of his band of 1969 - very, very excellent group that Loara had back then - we sure miss him :(

David Amos , I also was a 5547 [Marine Corps tuba player]. Was first stationed with the 3rd Div Band on Okinawa in '63-'64; Twentynine Palms Band '64-'66, and finally, with a newly-formed 5th Mar Div at Camp Pendleton. (My enlistment was up in Jan '67 and the division --- much alone the Band --- wasn't fully formed, so I sat around for my last six months.) Many memorable times for me . . . The 29 Palms Band was disbanded a couple years ago; they just got sent to other bands. Unfortunately, I don't remember ever playing "Purple Carnival March," nor "In Storm and Sunshine." I'll have to search the latter on KZbin. My favorite marches were always "Billboard" and "Salute to the Sultan." You may want to join the Marine Musicians Association (they're on line); maybe contact some of your former bandmates.

Thanks for the info. I greatly appreciate it. I love hearing from other band members regardless of time of enlistment. I didn't know about 29 palms band. I wish you well and I hope you have a great day. Semper fi

Most original breaker strain ever, with that soft section and interesting chord progressions. Also a great wwind obbligato in the last strain.

@@user-yu8en2gy3m Yeah, I heard that and was like "wait I've heard this sounds really familiar." I wonder if Married Life took any inspiration from this or if its just a coincidence that happened when they were going for an older style of music.
