Lol. Getting into clubs was huge in the '80s to pad your resume for college in So Cal. At my high school one group I was involved with was called "Hour to Devour". Toted as to show how we wanted to culturally enrich ourselves with cuisine around the globe. The funny thing is my high school was a mixed bag of different cultures anyways, so this was just an excuse to get Mom's to feed us great food every meeting. Chinese, Japenese, Jewish, Mexican, Italian. We were never really organized, but not did we eat good my senior year as a student member of this club. Funny thing is, my Nordic ancestors really didn't add much to this experience, lol.

You'd think with her signing up for EVERY club that some of them would overlap causing her to have to choose. Even so, it would detract from her schoolwork. It's a good thing she eventually gave all of them up except ceramics. But I would've hung onto that judo club. It's good for a girl/woman to know how to defend herself if the need arises.

I didn't sign up for any clubs until the 11th grade when I was in the FFA for the fall semester. I was a member of the DECA distributive education club and FHA Future Homemakers of America. School was hard for me. I couldn't afford to let my GPA drop. I agree with you there. I think that one club at a time is enough. I graduated from Amphi High School on May 23, 1991 with a 3.5 GPA. I served 4 years in the US Navy before going to Pima Community College. I have 2 associate degrees

Many high school (and college) clubs start out electing officers and raising funds and then do nothing but hang around once a month and buy a dozen donuts to share with the club funds. I had a popular teacher with a centrally located house. She let one club hold their end of the year party at her house, but under one firm condition- the club must do something serious and worthwhile sometime during the year. A good number of the clubs pictured in my high school yearbook never actually existed- they just got a few random students (sometimes including myself) to pose for a photo for the records.

Not really.....It is not that unusual, particularly if kids do not have a strong or consistent relationship with their dads. And that seemed to be the case with the Mrs. Brady's ex husband. Also, the mom changed her name, so it helped unify the family. I had at least two friends when I was a kid who did changed their last names when their moms remarried...there might have been one or two more. But I remember two very clearly because we were close enough that we talked about it.

Here in Switzerland with 6 kids you are almost tax exempt. I had 4 children and paid very little taxes. On top you get „Kindergeld „ …children’s monthly money or what we called in the old days in Canada…Baby bonus. It barely pays for wives to go to work because of the high taxes through double income. The biggest problem would be finding affordable housing nowadays with so many family members. Just about impossible!
@a.bertasso12988 ай бұрын
The housing market was different in California back then. But also.....Yes, architects do very well as someone pointed out. And regarding Mrs. Brady. How is the being a stay-at-home mom lazy? Even with a housekeeper, when the Mrs. Brady character remarried...it was not lazy when there were three more children to take care of and give enough emotional attention....not to mention feed and do laundry and so on for 8 people. And take care of a house. And help with the kids activities. It is lazy to have help if you can afford it? I'd take it. In any case, the character Mike got married to Carol for love, not because he needed a new housekeeper. Just my own humble thoughts.
