[PAYDAY 2] Mythbusting: Can the Yacht Heist be ECM rushed?

Yacht Heist ECM rush: is it possible? It was designed to be impossible: there are TWO objectives which are locked by the ECM effect: the door to enter the final server room (which will never open as long as there's an active ECM or pECM), and the 4 buttons in that server room (which won't activate under the ECM effect, and will even be disabled if they were available before the ECM was placed).
Considering all this, is it even possible to ECM rush the heist?

That ECM flicker on the door is genius, and only possible because of Pocket ECM. I always forget that there's a minute delay on the pagers that you can pop a pECM on.

@@kotzpenner That is 100% correct, yup! It's a really short heist once you get used to the money spawns and guard paths, although sometimes it can be a bit slower if you're going for a Pacifist run, depending on the guard pathing.

Glad you enjoyed it :) I personally really like looking for workarounds to rush heists which are impossible to ECM rush! :D As for your question, we were all somewhat familiar with the concept of the rush because I had shown it to them ahead of time, so we actually had to do extra attempts to get one where _one_ pager went off during the forced downtime: we were playing too well and getting a bit lucky, so most of our runs happened with 0 pagers, which would've been a misleading showcase of the rush!

Hello, Readraid here! This is my first video uploaded (but not recorded) with Marcmb, in fact, I think everyone apart from Marcmb himself in the ECM rushes of this video was a new member of people that have been in his videos so that's nice. An interesting not I would like to add to this strategy is it can be used to 'clutch' yacht heist stealth fails which is where I originally learnt about the objectives that were ECM blocked. When a 5th guard spots you just start the rush (or tell host to start the rush) and do the technique demonstrated in this video. I will be in next weeks video too btw :)

Wow, I was not expecting this being possible, even with Point Of No Return active. That was interesting to watch. And now can I ask you to do something stupid for April fools? Basically, shooting guide. Activate mallcrasher on normal, take the dumbest loadout (ex. flamethrower and grenade launcher, or anything with no bullets) and go in. Give the dumbest tips in captions (shoot to shoot your weapon, enemies die when their HP goes down to 0 etc.) Of course do it in lowest quality possible, preferably 4:3 window, with 240p being the best resolution. And of course for april fools, dead meme, like " *SUS* " sound everytime when you kill someone. Oh and don't forget the *ASMR BREATHING INTO MIC* as a sound in background of the video. Not sure if you understood it correctly, since my head hurts and I cannot explain crap, but it would just be funny to watch on April fools. I hope you'll stay as good as you are now. Thanks for entertaining content :)

The most important things are: 1) A host capable of controlled, intentional ECM downtime. 2) A crew who is ready to catch any pagers which may go off during this brief downtime. And once you take care of that, the rest is quite easy because it's a short rush! :D

I like regular ECM rushing, but finding ways to ECM rush impossible heists is really cool too -- you have to sit down for a bit, think about what's stopping you, and then find a way around that! This one in particular was really fun, especially with how close the Point of No Return timer gets, at the very end :p

@@Marcmb Exactly. Also, a bit off topic but do you perhaps have scarface mansion guide in plans? I can finish any mission in this game in stealth but this one, the guards inside the mansion always spot me and start a chain reaction, and even if i somehow make it to the end the outside guards spot me too and another chain reaction goes off which pager guards on the roof can see... I got my dsod achievement by rushing to the van with 6 bags while cops were stunned by ecm feedback and that's as far as i ever got lol

Thanks for showing that those buttons are blocked when ECM is active - in one of my attempts we were left with 0 pagers and my friend got spotted by the guard in that room with 4 valves - our instinct told us to ECM Rush it from this moment, so we've placed ECM but... we didn't know that we have to turn those valves first to make buttons appear, and we've been wondering, is the current objective being blocked by ECM or its just we are being dumb. Turns out it was both! :D Also, a little question - why do you prefer Locomotive over a Judge shotgun? Does it have better "ragdoll throwing" ability, or its because of bigger "magazine"?

You're welcome Miles, glad you liked that! :) Whenever I make one of these videos, I like explaining in detail which objectives are blocked by ECMs, so I'm glad it can be useful for regular runs too. As for your question, I generally play saw builds (so Berserker+Frenzy) which means that the lower damage isn't noticeable, and I really like the magazine size and reload style. It does come with a -1 concealment penalty (compared to The Judge), but I certainly prefer the Locomotive, as it looks much cooler too! :)

Glad you've been enjoying the videos :) My shotgun is the Locomotive 12G, which works really well (large magazine, fast reload...) but it needs a few damage skills (High Value Target, Berserker+Frenzy) to perform well. Hi again Umbrohs, and sorry for the late reply! Been very busy these last two days, editing the video which comes out this evening. As for your questions (welcome to the game btw), you definitely always want a silencer for stealth, yup. There are some cases where making noise is beneficial, but then you would just use a loud saw for the larger range. Frenzy does work with Yakuza, that's correct! Great combination. You can also lower your health closer to 0% (with molotovs for self-dealt fire damage), for even larger bonuses. I'm talking about stealth though, as Yakuza is quite complicated for loud, and there are easier choices!

Hi Sya! Good questions, no need to be sorry :) 1) The indicators are being displayed by my HUD mod, which is PocoHUD3. Details and info on how to get a HUD mod here: steamcommunity.com/groups/MarcmbCrimeNET/discussions/0/2279330983559406525/ 2) The "pager-blocking" effect of the ECM (which disables pagers, calls, cameras...) has infinite range. The ECM feedback (which stuns enemies) is a different thing, but that is not used for stealth.

I kinda dislike the anti ECM rush measures, but I also feel like they're a necessary evil, as I am pretty sure they were never meant for this quick and relatively easy completion of heists, but rather retaking control in an out of hand stealth situation.

I agree 100%, Misza! Anti-ECM rush objectives are necessary to keep certain heists balanced -- otherwise, they have to be designed in suboptimal ways to prevent ECM rushing, and that ends up hurting everyone. Personally, I really like ECM rushing normal heists, and looking for ways to rush heists like this, designed to be impossible -- but overall, I would prefer if rushes were made harder: much more complex, and less forgiving. I don't like the fact that you can start a heist in stealth, and salvage the run with a sloppy ECM rush if things go south: I feel like a rush should be done either from the start (for the challenge of the time constraints), or not at all. Just my personal opinion though! :)

I feel like salvaging a run with an ECM is perfectly fine, as usually, you're not going to need a regular ECM, and when you do, then you're either a)running yakuza, burglar or that anarchist-move-heavy-loot-faster-than-yakuza-build that is used by that one guy b)alerting 2-3 guards (good luck answering 2 far away pagers without using hacker or 3 without the perfect circumstances AKA the bodies being near each other and 2 pockets or a buddy to help you) or c) nearing the end of a heist and in need of just a bit of extra time to not hit the point of no return or the added/completely changed loud objectives (for example framing frame day 3) Also it takes 2 or 1 seconds to deploy, in which time a camera likely spotted something on a crowded map (for example golden grin or big bank) I guess the deploy time can be circumvented using hacker, but not everyone prefers active benefits over passive ones. Also I spent like 15 minutes writing this, please send help

@@misza115 I see, so there are definitely many different opinions on this! Personally I feel like the ECM rushes at the end are kinda cheap, and almost impossible to mess up: while it's true that cameras are likely to spot a chain reaction (e.g., civs, guards...), it's also very easy to notice that the heist is going south, and ECM a bit early (it's only 1 second deploy time, after all). Once that's done, completing 20s worth of objectives in 4 minutes of ECM rush is 100% impossible to mess up, no matter how many ECMs overlap. That's why I feel like ECMs as a "plan B" tool are too powerful, but full ECM rushes are kinda balanced by themselves because of the punishing nature and the time constraint of those strategies. Just my thoughts though! It'll be nice to see what the devs think, and what they do for PAYDAY3 :)

I would like to do GO Bank soon because it's one of my favorite heists, but I'm hesitant because I know that all my console audience doesn't have access to the heist :( As for Bank Heist, it'll likely be my last one because I barely play it, due to its low difficulty and reward. But as for other easy heists, I might do Ukrainian Job earlier than Bank Heist!

Very good question, Demvare -- there are still a few, yup! Some of them are really tricky because they have locked objectives (like Yacht, but even trickier), and others have no blocked objectives, so they are more straightforward, but still decently fun rushes! :D I've never actually counted the number though... I haven't prepared a full list because I just rush a specific heist when it sounds like something fun to do! :p

Hey Germán! Most can be ECM rushed, yes, although there are some exceptions which are impossible to ECM rush, because they have anti-ECM rush mechanics, or because the heist is too long. Some of those are the Golden Grin Casino, the Yacht Heist, Hoxton Revenge, Scarface Mansion... but for the first two in this list I've suggested alternative strategies to ignore the anti-ECM rush mechanics!

Hey Crime! Doing PCM cycles during the final PC hack would make the rush a bit faster, with a slightly more coordinated team. Also during the buttons PCMs would allow you to save a bit of time (just make sure you don't mess up, or it's game over at the very end of the heist just for an attempt to save a few seconds!). That's the 2 objectives where time could easily be saved, if this rush was decent for XP!
