I love how they always comfort and pat the horses and give them treats. That’s the best way to treat and train a horse. Patience and trust is key to anything! I don’t know how people can hate this

It is my dream since a child to visit the spanish riding shcool of viena, since my dad went there when I was around 10 and bought me a string of postcards with pictures of the school and horses. I am now 54, and I hope to be able to fulfil my dream this year, xx

These horses are being taken care of better than most humans are taken care of. Also the fact they´re all white means they´re not young horses, these horses get the time to grow and not forced into difficult moves at a young age. I´ve been in the stables and visited a training and I was amazed how carefully they handle these horses. They´re worth a fortune.

Though, these horses are not 'forced' to do anything, ever, but their natural physical abilities are carefully developed over time - as you know, but to make it even more clear to those who do not know or understand that all these movements are natural to the horse. The horses that lack the correct build or strength to perform the 'airs above the ground' - the most difficult movements - are not brought to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.

***** DO YOU HAVE TO TYPE LIKE THIS? Uhm, saying horses are white so they can't tell them apart is total nonsense. It's like saying people are white so we can't tell them apart. Horses have different faces too. And yes, there are brown Lipizaners but the grey ones are still young and turn white the older they get. Most after they're ten years old.

Such a beautiful video. Brings tears to my eyes. This is my world and passion, also. "Classical Dressage and Baroque horses." I now own, what I have dreamed of for 28yrs, a 4yr old PRE Andalusian Stallion. I have previously, visited the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, in 2008. Would love to go again one day and also, to the other 3 classical schools in the world, in Spain, Portugal and France. For me, there will be nothing better than this, in the world.

My horse at 6 performed a cabriole. I was watching out my window. My jaw literally dropped. I was astonished. Never expected to see that. He isn't broken. I have seen foals naturally perform,but not adults.

I love the fact that they remain with the mothers until they go out in a herd and are only brought into school at 3 .they had time to learn develop and mature in theyre natural time and setting.

The lippizaner is a breed off an andulusian horse and an arabian horse, Busted is one, but unfortunalty it is not a stallion, he has a good life now and is loved by it's owner Lotte van Houtert and the rest of the family, thanks for showing and kind regards .

@jesss227 there is a tradition of having a single black stallion as all the stallions are born dark/black and lighten with age but some stay dark/black so one was always included.

It's considered good luck to have a dark horse with the white (actually grey) horses. Sometimes a black or bay foal will stay that color. Yes, it is tradition. (Jan Griffiths).

He remained that color instead of greying out as nearly all of them do. He is still a purebred Lippizaner. It's considered good luck to have a dark horse, and traditionally one was always kept. (Jan Griffiths).

How I hate that it is always said that Lipica is a village near Triest or something. Lipica is in Slovenija and has nothing to do with Italy. Lipizzaners are horses bred with mixing Slovenian draught mares with exceptionally hard hooves and Spanish and other stallions. Lipizzaner is a Slovenian breed.

@@wolfgang4043 The city at this point in time is part of Italy so it’s called Trieste. It’s changed hands several times over the centuries and there are many Slovenians in the city and many Italians go to Slovenia for various reasons .My mom was Italian (from Calabria) and I grew up bilingual and have spent a lot of time in Italy but mostly from Naples on south. The Spanish riding school I wonderful but Italians have also contributed a lot to the history of the equestrian arts (Caprilli’s forward seat for example). You can call it Trst. I will call it Trieste and we can still be friends I hope. I’ve never been in the area but I hope it’s not a different version of the Gaza Strip. Have a great day. P.S. I’ve never heard any Italians claim that Lipizzaners were an Italian creation. There’s a very interesting book called “The Perfect Horse” which you might find interesting if you enjoy history. Another lovely book is “My Horses, My Teachers” by Colonel Podhasky but period you’ve read it. Are you from that area or have connections there? From what I could divine from a map it’s quite possible that the city has expanded and has a foot in each country and each one has its own moniker for it. My only hope is that the neighbors get along peacefully each respecting the other.

It was already liberated from fascists, but then given as a sacrifice together with Gorica and lots of land to Italy by the idiot Churchill. If Slovenians were a bit more militant, it would turn into a kind of Gaza, yes.

@@wolfgang4043 It’s so sad how the aftermath of wars linger for decades or centuries after the last shot has supposedly been fired. I am appalled at what the US has accomplished “spreading democracy” in the Middle East and the havoc the refugees fleeing the mess we created has caused throughout Europe . Like most industries wars make a small number of people obscene amounts of money at the expense of inestimable suffering to ordinary people. Where do you live if that’s not too personal a question? I’m in southern IL and the amount of division and hate combined with our cornucopia of weapons creates a situation in which I can’t see an appealing resolution.

The wild isn't so wild any more. Humans feel like they have to develop everything, and captivity isn't so bad if it's the only way some creatures can be saved. The wild is fast disappearing, and poachers still take a terrible toll on some animals. (Jan Griffiths).
