Extreme John Williams fan here and highly impressed with your arrangements of his scores! I love the transitions and the hints of his rare pieces in the middle of his well known soundtracks! Your third arrangement has been my favorite (including “Far and Away”) out of the quintet I’ve listened to! Keep up the awesome work!
@Marc_Papeghin6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Shane ! Extreme John Williams fan here too as you probably guessed ^^ Very glad you enjoyed that mix of famous scores and less-known/more obscure ones, I guess only big JW fans can recognize everything in there ;)

The first draft I did of that medley didn't feature that high D, it's only after recording the whole thing that I felt something was "missing" during that part ! I tried it, and thought it sounded pretty cool :)

What's the small part from 0.47-1.09? Which film and which track on the film's album? It's really simple yet beautiful and I'd love to be able to hear a little more! Your playing is fantastic and highlights exactly why I've now taken up the french horn as it's such a lovely instrument! Thanks for sharing your talent with us :)
@Marc_Papeghin8 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Jess ! The section from 0:47 to 1:09 is taken from Amistad and the track is called "Adam's Summation". You can listen to it here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnvEf4V5mJVrbrs

@wilfredcampos66198 жыл бұрын
Excuse me sir , that's some phenomenal French horn playing. I wanted to ask you what gave you that rich beautiful tone ? I'm a French horn player and I really want to improve my tone , as well as improve on range . Any tips on both ?
@SHADOWRAZOR12348 жыл бұрын
For range do lip slurs that go up into your high range. There isn't really a trick, the only way you're gonna get good at playing high is just playing high. Don't tense up and pinch your lips, high notes need faster air that normal notes. Maybe try changing the angle at which the mouthpiece touches/ presses on your face. BUT don't rely on pressure.
@wilfredcampos66198 жыл бұрын
+king_luna_16 thank you very much ! I'm going to implement that in to my practice regime , I'm definitely going to milk out the higher ranges because that's the bread and butter of the French horn . God bless you !
@ckooooooooo9758 жыл бұрын
And make sure that you practice equally low as well. Playing low helps you learn how to have the air speed and quantity to be able to play high notes stable and consistent.

ok dumb question but ive only beeb playing for a little over a year can someone link me to a place or just right a way to read base clef for horn
@Marc_Papeghin8 жыл бұрын
Reading bass clef for horn is no different than reading bass clef for any other instrument, but in case you're not used to reading bass clef there's some really cool videos on YT to help you with that ! Here's one of them ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn7OXqRrgaicd9U
