Planet Krypton in my opinion holds up quite well. I think Composer John Williams can give a lot of competition music-wise to Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, (especially) Wagner, and Haydn. I believe and this is my humble opinion but I believe that Composer John Williams will come up with new music that will surpass the Superman and the Star Wars themes. But the Krypton theme is very unique, it's Eternal. (The Krypton theme) in my opinion should be played in Middle school and high school bands around the Country. The theme of Krypton is Special. Music has not run its course. New music has been created here in the USA. There is still a new frontier in terms of music. John Williams is a genius. Thank You for reading. June 6, 2022. My high school marching band (in the early '80s) played the Superman theme with the Krypton opening during a football game halftime show. Remembering the sound of the solo trumpet, on the field, playing the Krypton theme on a crisp fall evening with perfect acoustics for outdoors still gives me goosebumps. I played clarinet, so our section had the "going up the scale" sequence (starting at about 0:55 in the video) culminating with the end of the fanfare. Outstanding ...

I've heard this theme so many times, it's not funny -- but IMO, the conductor's directing the official march like he's rushing to a blazing fire. I can just hear my 5th/6th grade band teacher saying "Where's the fire?" 😅 The OG tempo was a teensy bit slower, and thus a teensy bit more majestic-sounding. This version made me think the conductor's gotta take a leak. 😅
