@@williamjones4479 I didn't like it in the 1970s because it gave me headaches. There's something so bold about the intro to the second theme when the countdown appears on screen. It was a great, jarring transition from the cold open to the intro. It feels like four successive shots of adrenaline to pump you up for what's to come. The first one is classic and fits the initial tone of a show titled "Lost in Space." It was more peril and intrigue than high adventure. The second theme has a heroic flair, a bit of tongue-in-cheek that fits the shows transition to color. It also begins Williams's knack for nesting multiple themes into one. Star Wars, E.T., Raiders, Superman, and Harry Potter all had a variety of themes for the the same thing - not simply the use of leitmotif. I can't pick a favorite example, but the one that leaps out to me is Superman. In his main march there are two distinct and equally indelible and iconic themes. I've always wondered which one people would sing more if you randomly asked 100 people.
