the police did ask if he wanted to see his police id photo as he was offduty but he wanted real id instead of photo 4:55 . And he also clearly stated he was offduty so he had no id and thats why he was calling other officer with id to take action instead of taking action himself. And in 5:23 the officer did unlocked the mobile to show id but bro literally started putting helmet and walked toward his rented bike

It is illegal to modify bikes but legal to sell modification products....totally doesn't make sense ...as a Nepali motorcycle enthusiast I am sorry you had to go through that crap. It is illegal but the bike owner should have understood and explained and the officer should lower his EGO a little bit.

Wow. Sounds like they were familiar with that bike and its owner renting it out. You’re certainly not the first person to have rented it, and they probably became aware of it as a result. You just happen to be the unlucky rider at the time they decided to take action. I’m glad it all worked out though. And it is a shame about Eve, as I was thoroughly impressed she had not had any problems up until now. But you know how it goes, it’s not a matter of “if”, it’s a matter of “when”. It’s good to see the group together and having a lot of fun. Especially Loki!😊 Thanks for the great video! Ride safe. Ride smart. Have fun!

BTW Marc the same thing happened to my wife and her friends in Nepal. Actually the bike rental companies themselves call the cops on you, so that the cops can extort some money out of unsuspecting tourists and the rental can get a cut out of it too. Here are the bullet points to understand the scenario amidst all the language barrier. 1.The bike's modified. That's illegal- no ifs no buts. 2. Rentals are illegal. ( Don't want to get into the legal jargon behind it.. Technically you could pass by saying it is "from a friend" and not rented and even better if the "friend" and bike owner is riding along side you.... Also, Local jurisdiction has even made ride sharing illegal in Pokhara, recently. ) 3. Off duty "Senior" Cop spotted you guys, I reckon. 4. Since he was off duty, he called the "on duty" ones. 5. The owner showed up, and knows he is on the wrong. 6. From what people are discussing, the officers don't get percentage commissions from the fines they issue. The fines are collected in the central "Police pool", from where it is used to cover costs of operations. However, they for sure are "encouraged" to issue "traffic violations" in even petty matters.

@simpley6256
@simpley6256 6 ай бұрын
@@nilaksh007 What else than incompetent bureaucracy working at the behest of vehicle/transport associations and their syndicate. Pokhara lies in Gandaki province which has its own provincial laws. Although the Vehicle and Transport Regulation Regulations-2080 B.S. include provisions to legalize transport services through 'ride sharing' apps in Gandaki Province, the procedure for regulation has not been established. So much for federalism and bottom up approach, when democracy in paper becomes democracy for the cronies.

Marc, you should carry or wrap a narrowish self adhering Velcro around your bar somewhere. When you need to immobilize a front wheel just squeeze the brake and wrap the Velcro around the lever and the bar. It will also prove to be invaluable when picking up a bike that you've dumped and the front wheel keeps sliding/rolling away.

A lot of folks in Nepal think our traffic police have a little too much love for bribes. But here's the scoop: these officers actually get a bonus from the government or traffic department for every rider they catch with illegal modifications, missing documents, crazy driving, and other shenanigans. So, if you're squeaky clean, they can't touch you. But if you've got any slip-ups, they'll be on you like a hawk because, hey, who doesn't love a bonus? And a heads-up for our foreign friends: in Nepal, there's zero tolerance for drinking and driving. You might think you can handle a pint and still drive, but here, even a whiff of alcohol-just 1 ml-and you're toast. So, keep the booze out of your ride and stay on the safe side!

The reason of wildfire is pine trees bring in indian subcontinent by britishers during colonial era. As the temperature reaches above 45 degree, the bark of these invasive trees starts secreting an oil which is flamable, and during the pre-monsoon season these trees caught fires by winds. As every thing is dried up grass is dried winds rubs the grass and dried leaves and leads to fire in these pine trees, which leads to forest fire.

Spontaneous cobusting trees...What nonsense! Wet (live) wood will not catch fire from abrasion, nor do pinus Sp ooze sap as a result of high temperatures- sap (pine resin) is a stress response to a mechanical wound, or more occasionally response to a natural pathogen. These are scrub fires started deliberately EVERY YEAR to clear land for grazing & crops. I've seen this with my own eyes, maybe take a look up from your computer screen at the real world before making such statements. There are also pine species native to Nepal, as well as exotic species, both are planted/harvested for their timber. Since this is managed land near houses, the pines are likely for harvesting at a later date, rather than the 'bad-evil-colonial' variety you'd SO like them to be

Many people are making wild assumptions here, saying the renters called the cops on people, and the vendor is saying not to show ID. But that's not true. This is simply the case of police using their knowledge of hot areas for such issues to extort fines. Bike modification is illegal in Nepal. ANd they know many of these renters modify their bikes. So, the cop, instead of stopping this modifying practice, simply waits around near the renter's area and stops any such bikes and fine them instead. The department gets more money, and police officers have quotas, which, if they exceed, get them bonuses. These kinds of things are common even in highly developed countries like the USA.

@@MarcTravels Still, I get that you could interpret "my bike" in myriad of ways. But on a legal level you can call yourself lucky that it wasn't your property in the legal sense, that you did only temporarily have custody over it. You may have been riding it, but since you're not a licensed mechanic and the people of the rental place are the ones who modified it without telling you, you couldn't possibly be expected to know of the illegal tinkering they did.. it's not the same thing as if you were the one in the papers. Contrary to what 50% of Americans seem to believe, details matter. One tiny detail can turn over an entire story.. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I'm still kinda shook that they, basically living off of tourism, would treat tourists with rolling cameras, mind you, in such an inappropriate and unprofessional way. I find it highly questionable that the guy in civilian clothes would have his ticket thingy and a professional-grade radio with him, but not his ID - literally waiting in front of another bike rental/repair shop. To be frank, I probably would not have stopped at all for some plain-clothed rando trying to flag me down from the side of the road. In South Africa that could mean losing your life by stopping in the middle of a trap set up by car jackers. At the very latest, would've driven off the moment he said he doesn't have an ID; I'm stupid but not moronic enough to wait around for his fellow thugs to arrive and/or surround me.. not in a country I don't know the language, laws or intricacies of their judicial system and I'm sure as hell not sticking around to find out if the police is corrupt, in kahoots with some criminals or not - especially not since nobody knows what happened to me, where I am, I'm not speaking the language and my country probably will be unable to get me out of there through either diplomatic or "inofficial" channels.. They have the plate, if they really were police, they know where to find me.. but on the side of the road, without any safety measures in place? Nah thanks, I'll pass; pun intended. 😅

It is an International Driving Permit in Nepal. Do not use alcohol under any circumstances. Very strict penalties for driving a car or motorcycle. A prison sentence and a revoked vehicle. Very expensive. You will have to look for an embassy. Leave your belongings and means of transport in safe places. But by no means in the local area. You will quickly run out of belongings and transport. In traffic, the Left side is followed similarly in England, Australia, Hong Kong, another country. Observe the signs of traffic safety and regulations. And the Traffic Regulation Police for directions in traffic.
