This is hilarious, I once had to introduce my parents to a gay porn star. Thank god my dad had no idea who he was. Many years ago I worked in a high end restaurant that would occasionally book cabaret style entertainment. A few times, the singer Margaret Whiting was kind enough to sing. At the time, she was involved with gay porn star Jack Wrangler. He was her partner, and they eventually married. My parents wanted to see her show, so a reservation was made, and I tagged along with them. Both Miss Whiting and Jack couldn’t have been nicer to me while they were in town. She asked me to help her in her dressing room, making sure all her jewelry was secure, and she was zipped properly. My folks and I had the best seat in the house for the show. Jack saw I was a customer that evening and waved to me. I got up and approached him to say hello. He asked who was with me, when I told him he asked to be introduced. I never, ever thought I’d be in a situation where I would say “Mom, Dad, please meet Jack Wrangler”. He was very kind telling them what a help I’d been to them while they were at the restaurant. It was Ms. Whiting’s break, she saw Jack at our table and came up to say hello. My parents were impressed to actually meet Ms. Whiting. She sat with them making chit chat about New York and Hollywood and signed an autograph for my dad. As they got up since her break was over, Jack leaned in and gave my mother a kiss on her cheek, I thought she would pass out because she knew who he was. It was one of the strangest situations since I came out, that I found my self in. It’s a memory that always makes me laugh.
