I worked in an assisted living facility and confirm this is absolutely true. The families just freak out at the very idea sometimes. So did the aides who walked in on them on occasion. I was the food service director and only department head working in the evening and had a distraught aide almost in tears come running to tell me and ask me, “what are we going to to do?” I told her nothing, they have rights and it’s consensual with the couple. I said, “she isn’t going to get pregnant.” Though it is true that STI’s are high among senior citizens in the last couple of decades. One happy old lady had two steady boyfriends who were jealous but tolerated each other. Her family flipped out and moved her somewhere else. I doubt that stopped her.

This is lowkey a really good commentary on how people start to view elderly people once they’re in a home. They’re still people, they still want everything we want. They just need extra support in parts of their life, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make decisions for themselves. I see this a lot, people act like their grandparents are babies and it’s really just disrespectful after a certain point.
@edenhelsing99253 жыл бұрын
I’m a carer and student nurse, the person playing the carer was kinda accurate on some stuff. Like it’s very common for things like this to happen, the homes are like an old people’s version of living in single person dormitories in college except you don’t have to go to class. The comedy in this is great and made me laugh my ass off.

"They hook up." -- actual quote from a caregiver at the home we had to put an elderly relative into.
@aoikemono64143 жыл бұрын
Except many of them have dementia or have lost their minds, that's why they go to a nursing home. Others can't physically take care of themselves. They are babies. I know a bunch of old people living alone who can't afford to go to homes who would love to be pampered like a baby as they grow increasingly enfeebled. Obviously if you are fiercely independent and being forced to, that's another story. But for many, their dignity gives way to reality and pragmatism.
@daniellamcgee42513 жыл бұрын
@@aoikemono6414 To suggest that an elderly person, who has a long lifetime of experience, is a baby, is ignorant and disrespectful. You are obviously clueless to the losses of functioning of body and mind and how that makes a person feel. You have made a lot of false assumptions. No matter how dependent a person is in old age, they are adults who have obviously experienced a whole lot more of life than you. It is more likely that you would seem like a baby to them.

Remember several years ago when a man walked in on his father having sex with a woman in a nursing home and he complained to the orderlies and had them separated? They apparently asked about each other all the time but were given the run around (they were very old). What a terrible way to treat your parents and it should be illegal to control the sex lives of the elderly in a home like that.

No kidding. I used to work in the medical field, and one of the saddest stories I heard was from a man who'd had his father and stepmother separated. They were both in their 80's. Dad hurt himself and needed rehab. When he was done the doctors refused to release him to his frail wife, said he'd need someone who could take care of him as he continued to convalesce at home. They called the son and explained the problem. The son picked up his dad, hired a lawyer and had the two quickly divorced. The bastard claimed his stepmother abandoned his dad. Guess who got dad's entire inheritance when he died soon after? The wife died not long after that. Her daughter was adamant her brokenhearted mother just gave up.

I use to work a nursing home, This skit is legit down to the reactions of the younger people unwilling to accept older people have sex too... Some of these older people even walk the facility naked if you'd let them, We'd catch these people walking naked in the halls at lease 2 or 3 times a week, We'd have to wrap them up in a blanket, take them back to their room & Dress them.. I had one patient, He made it to the Kitchen every week to ask for cookies in just a T-shirt lol.. I believe some of them do it on purpose to see what they can get away with & maybe feel young again by doing something daring..

STDs skyrocketed among the elderly with the advent of Viagra. I was lucky enough to be working at a pharmacy when those little babies came out. At the time, the pills were $10 a piece. One of my customers had a 30 ct. prescription, which was the highest I'd seen. I asked him how many pills he wanted filled that day. He looks at me like I'm crazy, and practically yells, "All of them!". I asked, "You know they're 10 bucks a pop, right?". He literally sighed and said with no small amount of sadness, "Gimme three."

I worked as a Kitchen Aide for a nursing place and it was super common to hear about some of the residents having sex- hell, there was even a love triangle with this old man and 2 ladies fighting for him lol I was only there for maybe 6 months but the residents were super awesome and kind. I hope they’re all doing well ❤️
