Guy is an absolute legend. He rolls up with a cowboy hat 3 full sizes too small and then just blows up with the guitar and vocals. My son will read about this man

First time I heard this song I thought it was an old classic I'd somehow never heard. I stopped what I was doing and cranked up the volume. When I searched the song, I was expecting to find some grizzly old bandit. So I was surprised to find this young guy singing and playing guitar with so much soul. What a talent! I can only hope he becomes a grizzly old bandit one day and continues to share his music with the rest of us mere mortals ❤

Saw him play this solo acoustic in Austin before it officially came out and brought me to tears (not something that`s the norm to me). He ripped my heart out with that voice.

Hands down the best you can see today, Southern rock, soul, jazz... King is a like a science experiment with the DNA of SRV, Duane Alman and Marvin Gaye

Lyrics: I dreamed of the day when I'd hold you in my arms again Read you all the letters I wrote, never sent Give you all the pieces of me Put 'em back together Put 'em back together again Life has a way of writing your story for you And the hero doesn't always get his girl What if you could change the ending To the novel they've been writing Leave no resolution So goodbye Carolina Searched my whole life to find you I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know Where I'm going I'll be seeing you So hold my hand as I'm leaving Hoped my pain would be enough reason See you on the other side of the Blue Ridge sky Now I'm going Hate to tell you goodbye Say it takes a selfish man To leave on out from his old hometown without saying why he's going But you can come take the rest of me Early in the morning Tell me your goodbye Where I'm going I won't have these reminders of what I lost What was taken away from me And I hope you'll understand I was a broken man in my own hometown Need to find my own peace So goodbye Carolina Searched my whole life to find you I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know Where I'm going I'll be seeing you So hold my hand as I'm leaving Hoped my pain would be enough reason See you on the other side of the Blue Ridge sky Now I'm going Hate to tell you goodbye So goodbye Carolina Searched my whole life to find you I hate to leave you but I hope you'll know Where I'm going I'll be seeing you I'll be seeing you I'll be seeing you

This is the best version of this song on KZbin. The mix is so pure and simple. Just guitar and vocal with reverb. It really highlights the effortless power in Marcus' vocal dynamics and range. Touches me deeply each and every time I listen.

He reminds of Ronnie Van Zant, as a singer, crossed with Duane Allman, as a guitarist! That said he has a unique style that harkens back to a crossing of those 2 legends! A legend in his own right!

Marcus played this at the Met in Philadelphia last night. The same way he performed it in this video. He prefaced the performance by telling of a dear friend of his that committed suicide. And that this song was dedicated to him. He also opened up about his own struggle with suicidal thoughts. And that his wife to be has saved his life. I am not a religious man but if there is a God, PLEASE bring this man the peace he needs so that we don't lose such a treasure. Song hits me in an entirely different way now

I was there last night and just bawled my eyes out the entire time. The song always touched me in a certain way. After hearing the reason for the song and him being so open and honest of his own struggles, it still made me cry today and probably always will. I pray he finds peace within and lasting happiness.
