I love this track. I’m from the blue ridge mountains in NC and lost my only brother to alcoholism in 2018. This song reminds me so much of him. Just before he passed away he ask me to hold his had until he took his last breath. Which I did.. Good bye Carolina. Hate to leave you. I’ll see you on the other side of the blue ridge sky. That was my precious brother saying his goodbye. I miss him daily.

I have to rank him with the greats , I pray he don’t go overboard and keeps his nose clean and lives a long life with a long music career because I will be listening the whole way .

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him twice and talking with him after the first show for a good 15 minutes. They had played the night before on Kimmel in LA , driven all night to play their solo tour opener in Albuquerque . Marcus was personable , humble, and appreciative of all the compliments that I was heaping on him. He must have been exhausted but I would never have known by his demeanor. Taking compliments well can be harder than it sounds. Especially when I was honestly gushing to him that he’s already the heir apparent guitar god and that seeing his band is like seeing the young Allman Brothers. I stand by every word. I am so happy this man and this band do what they do with such dedication .Shout out to Tedeschi and Trucks and Warren Haynes for befriending the next generation of great musicians ! So much love.
