@ These are not "award" shows the way the Oscars or Golden Globes are. These are more "let's celebrate with our advertising partners" shows to get eyes on the stars and the products backing them and the drama/production. There ARE real award shows in China, of which there are three coveted ones. Marcus talk about the winners every year of these awards ceremonies.

IMO one should pay close attention to every "cryptic" public statement Li Mingde has made up to date. This 28 year old is firmly turning his back onto an industry where many unseen & unnamed hands are quite plausibly controlling the "purse strings" right thru the project cycle (all the while using pseudo "legal" strategies which most normal persons will never even figure out). I very much doubt Li Mingde decided to take such drastic life changing steps capriciously, to boot initiating law action procedures. This young man is bailing out of a toxic environment sooner rather than later. It will be instructive to keep track of the outcome of this particular saga.

Thanks for the updates Marcus, Am really enjoying Flourished Peony - top notch production values and Yang Zi and Li Xian are both slaying their roles. Unlike recent so called female empowerment dramas that are nothing but empty boasts about the theme, this one really shows us in a realistic and sobering way what it means to be a strong woman in feudal China. The other pleasant surprise has been The Blossoming Love - the CP is hot, the acting is good and the plot is turning out to be much better than just another angsty xianxia. 2025 so far is off to a good start! As for Li Ming-who??? I didn't know or care what the big fuss was all about but finally looked him up. He had a bit role playing a real prat in The Hope, which was a terrific drama. I can definitely tell you that anyone who thought he could land anything near a male lead role is seriously delusional.

Yea I mentioned that in a previous video. I guess they relaxed that rule. Dramas were getting around it. Instead of time travel, they traveled into a book, or it was just a dream etc. I guess the regulators just said 'go ahead'

Well, the CNetizens have moved on from the 50s to the 60s with the screaming and chasing after big stars ala Beatles-style. It's interesting watching history from an age perspective. Back when I was young, the audience hardly do any screaming or even know how to stand up and dance enthusiastically. We were very shy about showing any kind of public display. The Western concerts I went to were very polite, LOL. Then I watched how the young, through Western influence, became bolder in showing their emotions. Now, watching these antics, there is no difference from the huge concerts I attended way back before internet killed live music LOL. I must admit, though, the C-drama fans are way crazier with all the constant social media wars and the total disruption of the actors' private life (even their love lives!). Poor Li YunRui. He had been working so hard to get to be ML instead always playing a "Steve," heh. He got his wish and...more! And then you get someone like Li MingDe who wanted it too, got it and...more! It's been an interesting beginning of 2025, Marcus!

Hi 👋; I watched Weibo night in its almost entirety; did not sleep all night. Had fun with a friend just talking fashion and what not. Congratulations to all the winners. There were definitely some funny moments on both the red carpet and the awards later on. I am nobody confirmed for the 19th season two just an hour ago or so. I will also try to watch under the moonlight, which looks like it will have proper subtitles. I’m glad ZLY’s eight episode show past review that’s on my watchlist as well. Also congratulations to the love in the clouds crew that is some thing I want to see and they definitely look cute together. I completely agree with LYR, the fan behavior is crazy. Sadly, though there aren’t enough laws protecting the stars like we keep seeing the mobs at airports. He’s not the only person recently mobbed by fans at an airport; TJR who’s currently filming VoS, he was on his way to an event in the beginning of this month, didn’t unfortunately have adequate security and was squeezed and pushed by fans almost nonstop. Why aren’t laws in place to prevent this? Why are places like airports and hotels not monitored properly or have proper security or access to police quickly? This will never stop until tragedy strikes. That’s unfortunately how all of these things always happen. And I always wish it didn’t. I always wish people had the foresight to make things safe before a tragedy occurred. Wait LMD did what? Oh dear Lord, he spent two weeks posting about injustice, then hires lawyers, now quits? This is so confusing. Yeah let the courts figure it out.

I guess they don't want to be too hard on the fans and paparazzi because there are times they need them too. Celebs will put out statements once in a while when things get out of hand, but there will be times when they want them for publicity. Just my guess.

Since he obviously got lawyers on the case, he should just back off and let whatever happens happens. Their entertainment industry is a sewer drain I think. If they prove that there is legitimacy to what he said, then he won’t be blacklisted or kicked out because now in a court of law, you have legal documents, proving your point. But I think it’s smart of him to say I’m not saying anything else I’m going to let the courts talk.

It has been a while since I saw Tianyu in drama, so I won't be surprised if they pull strings to get him that role and cancel Mingde out. But if it were to be on a neutral ground Tianyu is a better actor than Mingde, he even fits the Lead role than Mingde. Mingde as a lead actor is kind of far-fetched. But if everything he said were true then the director is to blame they shouldn't have given him that assurance.

The award shows are biased and unfair. Some of those actors who won awards didn't deserve it while others did but didn't receive it. Also, Yangzi supporters are toxic! Whoever is yangzi backer behind the stage is toxic as well. I like the start of Peony, but it's lagging now, dropping it. What's up with her constant flower theme? The Double was the best in 2024, but I guess its rigged for some actors to get awards.. even though they had flops throughout the year.

What awards did Xiao Zhan get cuz I don't think he was in any drama last year. I know Zhao Lusi is absent but her not getting any award is diabolical. Even if her last year's drama was not really for me, it was still popular among the audience. Even Double FL did not receive award seriously. I wonder was their criteria for giving awards.

I agree, The Double was the best of 2024. Blossoms was good, but way overhyped. The Double had better storyline, execution, and acting. I guess since Blossoms aired later in 2024, it got more attention when it came to award time.

@patwynn5296 I'm actually a more fan of Blossom than Double, but should not stop that Double was so popular last year, how it was overlooked amazed me. Even on other awards shows I don't think they get any awards whereas new dramas that have like few eps are getting awards. Like how come

I not only like Yangzi but am supporting of other actresses Lusi, Bai Lui, to name a few. Even though some of the shows are not my interest, I would never slander the actress or actor like you did. She is doing a great job on flourished Peony as is Li Xian and Miles Wei. I love Li Xians fan base because they are very kind to Yang Zi as is not the case with some of her co stars. If you dont want to watch her shows, great but don't slander her and those of us who enjoy her acting. Not cool.
