Thanks Marcus. Easier to watch than Scott Manley. Keep it simple bro!

i like Marcus more, i like his building process , he never fast forwards the video during the building process... Orb8ter is a little slower but still too fast, Scott is so fast that i cant keep up at all even if i puase it it looks blurry during building phase, Marcus is best KSP tutorial guy there is.

Love the vids. Really helped me a lot with this great game. Also love the way you not only talk about the game but add titbits of info out the real space programs/race. Your passion for the subject clearly shows through.

Thanks Borrik! Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the support. A special episode coming this Saturday too :). I hope people like it. Its a little different to what I usually do with KSP.

Thank you for these tutorials... 2 years later and we still benefit from the series. Forgot the parachutes for the Duna Lander, but was still able to land safely due to the Spark Engine and more than sufficient fuel..... thanks again!
@MarcusHouse7 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the comment Dave. I appreciate that mate. Only thing you need to worry about in these earlier episodes is the lack of comm systems that you now need. Just keep in mind that you need the appropriate antenna / relay now and you will be AOK,.

Thanks for another great video. Since I've struggled for a few episodes, I learned it's best for me to make the rocket you do, and if I fail too many times, I add a little more fuel, and boosters to carry the fuel up, then If needed, I throttle the boosters. (I am not so great at the efficient burns yet, particularly launch)
@MarcusHouse8 жыл бұрын
Launch is certainly one of the trickiest parts of a mission. It can take some trial and error to plan out the best gravity turn. Sounds like you are doing all the right things! Thanks for the comment and sub!

Very nice video - Looking forward to my first mission to Duna and Ike (science mode) but I'm feeling inspired to finally have another go at Career Mode.

Career mode is a lot of fun especially now with a lot of the new communication systems in play. Good luck!

Marcus House Watching your other videos, I really like the Mk1 passenger carrier (don't often build MK1 planes so hadn't really noticed it). Much better than having to stack 3 MK1 command pods on top of each other to ferry tourists about. That always annoyed my sense of reality :). Just started a new career save, so I'll see how it goes. Cheers (KSP forum = Clipperride) Withnail67

When coming in fast to a planet, limited fuel, consider radial burns as opposed to prograde to correct.
@MarcusHouse8 жыл бұрын
Very true. Thanks for the comment! In the case of my lander moving away from the other probe, I was burning pro-grade simply to add a lot of distance from the Ike lander.

I'm looking forward to trying my first Duna trip tonight! Thanx for the very clear primer!
@MarcusHouse7 жыл бұрын
No problem. P.S. This vessel is quite old and you would now need communication systems for this to work. Nearly better to just take a Kerbal with you these days.
@MichielTop7 жыл бұрын
Thanx for the head's up. I did set up a small relay network around Kerbin already but when I went for Duna last time the system still didn't reach far enough. I guess I have to place a few relays in Sun orbit first before going for Duna.
@MarcusHouse7 жыл бұрын
I like to put a polar orbital sat at a great distance on every body (means you can pretty much always relay from everywhere unless you are super unlucky).
@finngerber82307 жыл бұрын
Wow. Great job! I did that type of mission also in career in 1.1.2. However the Ike portion was slightly bigger and the Duna portion smaller.

I finally stuck the Ike landing! It took many tries. I think success was mostly about finding a flat enough landing spot. Now on to Eve.
@quoniam4267 жыл бұрын
The way to go is as you do, optimize your missions to get the most out of it instead of a single objective per mission as I used to do. You maximize your economic efficency and science gathering much more. That's what I began to do to recover from my corrupted save to get back to those high tier techs as soon as possible.
@MarcusHouse7 жыл бұрын
Hi Quo, I'm glad you like this little mission. Just so you know. I am doing a brand new series starting Saturday with the Galileo planet pack. So you will get to watch a fresh game install again. Really looking forward to seeing what you think.
@quoniam4267 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is when you're still at low tech and you plan to make your ship return, you don't want to waste energy with long range science data transmission, with no processing lab, your just have to take one instrument per measurement you'll take, so if you are gonna take five times the temperature at five different places, you put five thermometers on your craft. That works quite well when you have no storage capacity on the craft. I even take one set of instruments more to take measurements where I land on Kerbin, providing I land at a place where I never landes before. That give some extra science points as well. But yeah if your probes stay where you made them go, you just have to do with what data you can transmit. But for Mun and Minmus missions, if you can make the data come back to Kerbin intact, the better, when you are not yet at the tech level to unlock the processing lab. And of course when you take a standard inhabitaded flight somewhere it is with the intention on coming back with the data.
@Deacetis19916 жыл бұрын
How are your communications set up? My crafts nearly lose signal at the moon with a few antenna, but i see you're only using one.
@Liofa736 жыл бұрын
Ugh, got all the way out there and had limited probe control as kerbin was so far away, annoying as I'd limited the engine down....
@hououinkyouma19758 жыл бұрын
This way of collecting science on Duna isn't possible anymore, is it? I don't think the antenna you used can transmit the science from Duna all the way to Kerbin in 1.20.
@MarcusHouse8 жыл бұрын
If you add a large relay to the orbiter you will be fine keeping the lander as is (of course the lander still need to communicate with the relay so you will have signal loss at times).

Finally got that Ike landing, now wish I had put landing legs on that thing. Didn't have it in me to try for the second biome so not happening till I have a Rover or something. You make this look so easy but your tutorials are fantastic and have helped a lot. Have +1 sub, hope to see more new things from you in the future. Edit: I have two missions for placing satellites in specific orbits of Ike and Duna, bad idea to use these probes for them?
@MarcusHouse8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam. Having probes around every body (that sounded kind of bad) is a great thing. Just keep in mind with 1.2 you will need some relays in order to transmit and control the vessel from that distance.

Whenever I go to Duna, I'd have to slow down like 2,000 m/s as well as lower my apogee from like 40M (given I don't perform course corrections).Should I aerobrake?

@bondedomao7 жыл бұрын
I just feel like warping so much feels like cheating. That's why you get so much science. I rather play with multiples launches, if I have to wait to much like more then 20 minutes I just go do other missions while that, using KAC it becomes rather cool when you get to do one maneuver right after another on other vessel, switching in between them. But hey, I get you must be used to play like this, in sandbox it does not feel like cheat, you must play for a long time and career is rather new. I enjoy watching and I learn a lot anyway.
