We had a fair bit of Rain Dave so it's good to see it's all working as it should and filling them reservoirs up. I gotta say I did like Small Water from that angle. A new perspective. Well, good time out and test of the new tent - loving them deer. Mark

I think mine is a medium , its designed for an exped mat but I put some foam tape around the nozzle and it fits on alpkit cloud base just fine . only takes a couple of bags full of air and its up .

Thanks Andy , love it up there its full of rugged charm. It was a lal bit windy at times but not enough to really show how it performs tho. Yes I slept that way as I found the bag touching the sides when slept the other way last time. I am liking it the more I use , so easy to pitch and set up . TFw atb Dave.

Good camp that one marra, excellent views on a good night as well. Shame you lost a bit of mic ont way up but it didnt stop enjoyment of it..kind of more natural with a bit of wind noise surrounding you ont top. I like to melt the cheese on top of my spam when cooking it..but its a classic camping sarnie nowadays. Nice you caught shots of the deer as well..surprised they were up high..bet they were well on their guard with a few out that night. Grand walk to finish off the morning back to the car..atb Mark

Cheers Marra , I was never gonna find the mic as it’s so small . Some great views all around up there like . And so many tents about nothing like the Bewcastle Fells eh . It’s a fairly tricky decent off high st down riggindale . But a good night on the fells atb Dave 👍🏻

Really great video, with you on the Spam, childhood treat when I was a kid, tend to stay away from it these days though! amazed by the price of those little tents, I always buy from TN and Hilleberg but this kind of gear is really making me change the way I think about tents particularly, Keep up the great content

Great video as always Dave! It's always a bummer when you lose things when you're out camping/touring. I think I have you beat though. I lost a whole pannier on my last tour in Lapland. Yes a whole pannier. I don't know how it's even possible. But I managed to do it somehow. Lost a bunch of important stuff. Video on that blunder should be ready in a couple of weeks.
@BorderRambler5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mikael , I don’t feel too bad now losing a little mic lol .. I am assuming you took it off then forgot about it ? Hope you didn’t lose too much gear . TFW atb Dave
@BikeTouringMike5 жыл бұрын
@@BorderRambler On the contrary Dave. First I had stopped to take a nice photo of me and the bike, when the bike started slipning down a ravine. I caught it pretty instantly, but one of the panniers came loose. I reattched it, but half an hour later I made a stop to film myself riding by. After making that stop I heard a thud, but I thought it was a passning car, and didn't think more about it. I cycled on for another half hour before realizing that I had lost a pannier. I must have reattched wrong somehow. At first I was relieved when I realized that my tent, pad and sleeping bag was in the opposite pannier. But I lost clothes, hiking shoes, rain jacket and other stuff. Probably worth around 3-400 Euro. Cycled back and searched for an hour or so, but someone must've picked up the pannier. Contacted the police station a week later, bit no one had turned it in.

Great Video... I'm looking at either the Zeph 1 or the Solo... Just can't make my mind up... love everything about the Solo... the only issue I've got is the porch size and cooking in rain/wind... what are your thoughts?
@BorderRambler5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Graeme , a difficult choice and yes the solo has a small porch and it could be a problem in rain/wind to cook . I always cook away slightly from tent due to using a meths setup . This wont help you tho lol TFW atb Dave.

Hi David, Great video. I was looking at getting a Soloist but was a little cautious due to the high side and it flexing to much on windy nights. How did you find it? Does it move about a lot? Also, what is your sleeping bag in this video?
@BorderRambler4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use the soloist in anything over 25mph really due to its shape but is still a great little tent for the money , the sleeping bag is my summer aegismax from aliexpress at 495 g and packs really small . TFW atb Dave

Hi there border rambler I am looking to purchase soloist as my first wild camping tent , do you recommend?
@BorderRambler5 жыл бұрын
Hi , I would recommend it but its more of a 3 season tent and if you have to spend all night inside due to inclement weather it doesnt afford a lot of room . But if you can spend time outside and just use it as a shelter its fine. atb Dave

I haven't had it out in gales if that's what you mean , only really used it very breezy conditions . I leave the gales for when I use the akto . However it still performed ok and survived the nights ok atb Dave

Great one, still not sure about that tent. Can deal with the fact it’s butt ugly, but concerned with how high sided it is with a small footprint. Only the Autumn season will tell i suppose. ATB
@BorderRambler5 жыл бұрын
