It's like the popular magazines today, they used to contain articles worth reading back in the day, but now it's sensationalist trash and blatant lies. But of course it's catering to what the masses want (that's where the money is), which is the really sad part of it all.

There's nothing wrong with ACA. It's quality television and yes it's sensationalised and can be problematic. But those parts/stories of Australia do exist whether people like it or not. And those stories can be 'trashy' or 'humourous'. Not every piece of news should be seen through a serious lens. I watched recently where a man in Auburn NSW who lives in a semi is left with only his side of the semi. The other side had been in a fire and then acquired (along with a few blocks next door) by developers who developed an apartment block on that land. The semi looked ridiculous as it was cut in half with half of it's roof and no windows on its entire right side. Thing is the bloke refused to hand over his home to the developers. Not because the price wasn't right but because they wanted his land in enchange/swap for an unit in that new development complex: UNBELIEVABLE 🤯

I never expected to mainly watch The Weekly to see Margaret Pomeranz. I never even expected her to be funny but she is the funniest person on The Weekly. Just my opinion. Keep it up Margaret, you do a great job.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The worst bits are the presenters acting so pious and serious as if the segment is worthy of a nation's interest. At least in the early years they interviewed politicians. It's history so eloquently articulated by Margaret is a true and direct correlation with the decline of society. Dumb and Dumber was not just a movie. Remember the notorious 'investigator' Martin King. What a jerk that man was. Then I recall a Media Watch episode where they had discovered that ACA had broadcast more stories about women's bras than any other topic, including the old standards such as dodgy builders, dole bludgers and fighting neighbours. But some good came from this utter garbage and that was the sublime and all so accurate Frontline - now there was an awesome show created by talented and intelligent people. IMB has ACA's approval rating of 2.1 out of ten. So, there is hope for mankind although one wonders who were watching to get a score at all. Of course, back in the eighties Home and Away had a cast mainly of everyday looking people with the token pretty girl and boy. It was by today’s standards a rather innocent little family show. Today it basically serves as a soft porn show for emotionally challenged teens - that's going by the commercials only (I tell no lie). And the Liberals and Sky news still have their hateful addiction and loathing for the ABC. What a sad situation - yes, a current sad affair. Can someone please do an expose on Martin King. Just kick his door in and follow him up the street whilst verbally baiting the man. Revenge is sweet but rare.

I'm no big fan of the Pomerantz, but I have agree that ACA has stooped to a low level, zero political content whereas in the "old days" political content was the main game. It has become an embarrassment for ch 9.
@sixstringedthing8 ай бұрын
I'm no big fan of any form of commercial television, but even I know that the "old days" of Mike and Jana actually pinging pollies with some tough questions are very old days indeed. For as long as I can remember, ACA's main game has been chequebook journalism and doorstopping any bogan family that will get their elderly viewer base riled up about "those awful people". They began producing the televisual equivalent of clickbait long before the word "clickbait" was even invented.
