@J LD exactly.. Im a millennial so when I found this out I was so shocked and knew that I was not hearing the truth about her. The fact is that people loved her, her own ministers eventually didnt have the balls (so to speak) to stick by her. But the radical Left which is now just the Left are delusional and suffer from cognitive dissonance. I wish the Tory party had someone like her today!

Mrs Thatcher was not only beautiful but had the finest brain in the country. Even though she genuinely adored the monarchy it is understandable that the Queen felt intimidated by her. The Queen had no proper education and obviously felt intimidated by her. The series TheCrown showed what a foolish lot the royals were and how crude and ignorant they were in treating their guests. The film The Iron Lady was unacceptable . There should have been a film made celebrating all her brilliant qualities. I am old now but Margaret Thatcher was to me one of the best women in the past and present years. If only we could find someone else with her qualities.

Sadly, Gillian Anderson’s impersonation of Margaret Thatcher was a narrow caricature which missed the nuances that made Thatcher such an engaging personality. She did not capture Thatcher’s twinkly eyes and smiles. She did not capture the speed or fluency of Thatcher’s delivery and the way she occasionally slowed down, deepened her voice and steadied her gaze in order to emphasise an important point. If Thatcher had been anything like the living corpse that Gillian Anderson has given us, she would have bored everyone to death and would not have been elected PM three times in 1979, 1983 and 1987.

There needs to be a middle ground. Nowadays there seems to be an assumption that a politician must be lying and so it becomes trying to get a “GOTCHA!” moment This interview is too deferential; Thatcher is given quite substantial time to answer and her answers are not actually challenged or dissected any further. There needs to be a balance - Politicians need to be given room to answer a question; but interviewers should also be able to push back when answers are unsatisfactory

Love or hate her on her political ideology/policy, you have to admit - MT never wavered from answering difficult questions, never tried to be something she was not it or tried to please anybody for the sake of pleasing others. And was honest in her answers. Never promised unrealistic ideals, which some leaders are too prone to do. As a South African 🇿🇦 It's dissapointing she didn't sign sanctions against Apartheid as part of the commonwealth but will ALWAYS have mad respect for her as a woman in a man's world. I mean it's badass to negotiate on nuclear weapons, work really hard toward wanting a war free world (well for the 80s that is). There are many woman today in varying institutions working in the global political arena working towards the same. #breakingtheceiling
@jaredt8526

She didn't support sanctions because she believed sanctions inadvertently hurt the poorest most. And in effect, she was right if we look around the world where sanctions have been applied (eg. Cuba, etc).

@terzelrasmus-williams2530 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaredt8526 I half agree with you on that point. The thing is the ANC and other freedom fighting movements were fighting for political freedom first at the time. The ANC's policy was first to gain political freedom and then work towards economic freedom. However, after gaining political freedom, and even though they have been in power for all of our democratioc dispensation, they have not achieved this. So I understand why she was not for it because what happens after gaining political freedom? So yes, she was right in the long-term, but she could have helped towards political freedom at least? Her views on the ANC and other political struggle heroes was also not favourable. But that is a debate for another time entirely that I am not equipped to argue about that just yet and this is also a very nuanced and complex issue to discuss. And even though South Africa did not gain economic freedom yet, the way the west likes to do things is just leave their mess where they made it. So I half agree with you.

I'd like to ask Trump what he thinks of Thatcher. I find her absolutely inspiring. She was one of the greatest leaders of the 20th Century. Britain used to matter, and she did the very best anyone had in nearly 30 years prior to her to make her matter again.

Why does the woman in ‘the crown’ exaggerates Thatcher’s voice so badly? It’s so weird I just came here to check if Thatcher actually speaks like that but she speaks totally normal

I love Margaret Thatcher so much from am anthropological point of view. She's the greatest feminist of the 21st century. What a lady.

Eu hein.

I think the actress in the Crown really nailed it. It is different, of course, but she captured something. I heard the voice and was like "meh", and then she kept talking for just a few seconds and it was there..! Good job
