The sad thing is, that a brutal Argentinian military junta started this conflict to stay in power. A junta which has murdered many more Argentinian civilians than military personel was lost in combat with the UK. Why most Argentinians saw the military aggression as some sort of patriotic enterprise is a riddle. Not only was it started by a brutal and illegitimate government, but Argentina's claim to the Falklands is no more reasonable than their claim to say, the Maldives would be. It is true, that the Falklands being British is the result of colonialism. Yet this is utterly meaningless, as Argentina is also the result of colonialism.
