@@watasn5081 Hi, does anyone know how she solved the double integral part? When I do, I remain with terms yet her answer is a constant value. Any reference to a topic, I looked up double integral calculation and the answers also have terms for example using this calculator website: www.symbolab.com/solver/double-integrals-calculator/%5Cfrac%7B1%7D%7B6%7D%5Cint_%7By%7D%5E%7B1%7D%5Cint_%7Bx%7D%5E%7B3%7D%20%5Cleft(x%2By%5Cright)dydx

On part b....when integrating wrt y how is it cy/2 +cy^2/2 and not c/2 +cy^2/2????

in part c, you draw a line from origin to vertical line of support and you said this point is (1,1). But when that point is (1,1), area under triangle becomes 1/2. I did not understand that part

Yes, but to normalize the function (Make it a valid PDF as we did in part b) we found C to be equal to 1/6. So your integral for the triangle area = 1/2 must also be multiplied by C to scale it properly. 1/2 * 1/6 = 1/12.

In part c why the limit is from x to 3 and not 0 to 3 ?
@mathetal
@mathetal 5 жыл бұрын
For dy, you're integrating from the bottom to the top. So the top portion is just y = 3, but the bottom portion is y = x to account for the diagonal line shown in the support.
