I think the best thing I ever did in my life was delete Tik Tok. It made me live my life completely empty. The vast majority of my time was spent addicted to the screen, and I had forgotten how beautiful real life really is. When I look at it now, I see that real life is actually very different from social media. I don't know, the artificiality of that place disgusts me now
@serafinacleo5 ай бұрын
ah so true! i feel like an old woman complaining about how everyone now is so so addicted to social media and never actually form real connections. it's so dangerous and what's worse is that we have barely any studies on how it's affecting our brains long term because it's such a new phenomenon. plus teens and kids are still developing and when you grow up with the crutch it's harder to quit. there are loads of experiences and opportunities to be had and when you quit socials you realise how much TIME you have in the day. it really saddens me now seeing my friends and younger people not being able to interact without going on their phone every ten minutes- and you don't realise how bad it is until you're out of it. i urge everyone to just go without it for one weekend and see how different and better your life is

I've never used Instagram, tiktok, snapchat, or so, and i am glad about that, since I did try those out and stopped really fast after i had break downs and such about them. Sure, my mental health was really bad and still is, but i also learned so much different stuff and also tried out many new things. I always randomly decide what i want to do in my free time (no planning for specific times). For example, i once, while summer holidays looked up a place for berry picking. With those berries i picked, i learned how to bake a cake. The cake also tasted really good. The thing I've mostly loved and still do my entire life is reading books while drinking some tea and listening to music. My favorite book is a german book called "Der Sonne Nach" by Gabriele Clima. The book is about a 16 year old boy who, due to something he did in school which he shouldn't have, needs to take care of a boy in a wheelchair. It was the book we had to read and analyze in 10th grade for our german final exam. Anyway, everyone is different in stuff like that, and I'm glad i am able to share what i like to do somewhere. I know it probably isn't a problem, but I'm sorry if i was rambling to much. What i also like is reading the different comments in this comment section on what they tried or do. (:

Smart! I know from experience that getting rid of TikTok can seriously boost your mental health. The app's endless flow of short clips can make you spend way too much time staring at your phone, which can mess with your mood, make you anxious, and even wreck your sleep. Plus, TikTok's algorithm can trap you in a bubble of the same old content, which means you don't get to see different points of view. That's a huge issue for me. On top of that, all the perfect lives and cool stuff everyone shows off can make you feel pretty down about yourself. Kicking TikTok out of your routine can help you take back your time, dodge negative vibes, and create a healthier online space.

I’m thinking of deleting tiktok because I literally can’t focus on anything for more than 5 minutes and watching this helped me realize how much time I spend on tiktok just to avoid other important things even with a set time limit I would ignore it, thank you for this video 💜

also, i absolutely loved "essays of love" by alain de botton. he's a philosopher, and he wrote a similar book as Dolly Alderton but a more philosophical approach? it's not super "light" but not heavy or too hard to understand either. i really liked it

I deleted tiktok almost 3 years ago and lemme just say it's super weird, not for me individually but when talking to other people. It's such a fast media app that's also just filled with brainrot so lets just say i was hella lost(still am) when people kept using the words like "baefy, bookie, skibidi toilet, Karma's a b****" and much much more. Especially with a lot of music artist and clothings trends. I've been used to it for a while being away from the app so i wouldn't say i feel alive just that its a new normalcy. I ain't never downloading it again tho. The first thing i notices is how my screen time went from 6 hrs to 1-2 hrs these past years.

Hey, I'm so happy for you! I've deleted TikTok 8 Months ago after being addicted for 4 years, honestly most of the time I don't even think about it anymore. I absolutely don't miss it, I would never install it again and not sure if this correlates but my life really improved over the last few months. I'm socializing way more than before and I do really much for university compared to back then. Honestly my screen time is still horrifying, which is why I'm generally trying to shorten my mobile phone usage rn, but one step at a time :)

its really terrifying for me how easy is for our generation to lose our attention span, I installed tiktok some months ago (cuz i never really used it) and it's dangerously addictive, i never felt so guilty on spending my time just using my phone for that, i hope this type of things change for the good in the future

i just read this book called "far from you" by tess sharpe and i enjoyed the reading. i gave it 3 out of 5 stars (which, for me, it's a good rating laslska). a few things here and there bothered me, but just bc here in brazil it was released last year and it's originily from 2014, so sometimes i was like "girl...?", but yeah it's a fun read! k, not >fun< bc it envolves murder, but you get me 😭

Im almost years TikTok free and life has never felt better. I precisely choose what content to consume, and no algorithm controls my time. I find that TikTok, in terms of addiction and ruining the ability to focus, is the worst app and Im glad that its not a part of my life anymore (:

definitely not a light read, i would say, thematically speaking, but a really good reading, with a strong going foward kind of narrative, that flows like blood, like waves in a angry of flood, with the irrevocability of volcano eruption, is the novel by the great brazilian master Graciliano Ramos: São Bernardo. I think anyone, in whatever place in the world, would enjoy reading this book, it is so well written.

I deleted tiktok for ever. Tiktok is one of the worst social media. I know because I used it and one thing I did was develop ADHD and couldn't last more than 30 seconds, because that's about how long 90% of the content on tiktok lasts.
