Assolutamente straordinaria l'esecuzione che ci ha regalato la Pires di questa immane, sconvolgente opera beethoveniana,( anche se limitata al secondo movimento "Arietta") sia per l'intensità spirituale e la visione interpretativa da lei effettuata, sia per la eccellente registrazione e per la qualità eccelsa del Fazioli. Si tratta di una sonata che qualche pianista ha affermato essere "Un'opera di ineguagliabile espressione e trascendenza il trionfo dell'ordine sul caos, dell'ottimismo sull'angoscia" . Celebri poi sono le pagine che lo scrittore Thomas Mann dedicò soprattutto al secondo movimento della sonata, la cosiddetta 'Arietta', nelle pagine del suo romanzo Doktor Faustus del 1947; l'interpretazione di Mann risulta influenzata da Theodor Adorno.Il fatto che Beethoven non abbia realizzato il terzo movimento e che abbia allungato il secondo il mio modestissimo parere ( di persona che ascolta la musica per istinto e di nessuna competenza musicale) può essere che aveva già detto tutto nei due movimenti? Complimenti per l'opera della Fazioli nella diffusione della musica e per la qualità sbalorditiva dei suoi/nostri(?) pianoforti.

There are many young talented pianists these days but, except for a few (several, maybe?), I can hardly enjoy their music, especially, if I see them on the video. They somehow make me uncomfortable and nervous. In contrast, pianists of my generation (early boomers) in general seem very relaxed and natural -- whatever that means. Perfect for me, who just wants to enjoy music and feel relaxed. Maria is at the top of my favorite pianists. I wish I had a sister like her.
