The songs of pylon highlighted in grinding corn, soft toned edges when cooked, sewn, washed in several Venezuelan areas are recognized and have been with us for generations, even though new life make us lose some traditions still exist in many Venezuelan people, they can still find many women and men sing a song, whistling a lullaby to accompany the daily work of the inland or the Venezuelan coast.

I heard this song in the Netherlands on the radio way back in 1988. I used to listen to Public Enemy, NWA, EPMD, rap, housemusic, acid house. So I never heard something like this before, I was very impressed. It made me quiet...I was like WOW!

@ChelitoAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
@@MarcoAOlivares that's not precisely the thing she is talking about. She is talking about a hard working life as she refers to "her head is even hurting of beating too much the pilon". She dreams of also being married to a good single man... but she still has to continue with life and feels blessed with what she has.

Gözde Soytürk hello, this is a folklore venezuelan song that talks about the colonial era where women used to grind corn on a pilon(that thing she uses in the video) to make arepas(a traditional food in Venezuela) while they were talking to each other, basically, is about a woman who complains about her work and how hard it is. sorry, my english is not good.
@sungerbob17865 жыл бұрын

I love this song! Originally I heard it on the compilation Potatoes: A Collection of folk songs by Ralph Records back in the 80's. I've searched the lyrics and found most of them, however the final two verses after the instrumental interlude are not there. Can someone transcribe them for me please?
@correodeadolfo7 жыл бұрын
There are many versions. I assume that, like some other hispanic songs, people used to just sing whatever came to their mind, and some verses just stuck. I have no proof of this though. Much of the history of Venezuelan folk music is blurry. Here are the final two verses in this version: Ya me agarro de valor Pa[ra] decir lo que yo siento No te creas que te olvido aunque el tiempo se haga eterno Y pa[ra] terminar te digo ya que me viste nacer yo me siento muy dichosa y profundo es mi querer In English: Now I gather the strength To say what I feel Don't believe that I forget you even if time seems eternal To finish I tell you since you saw me being born I feel very blessed and deep is my love
