Tennis analyst Rubin took the words out of my mouth in stating Sakkari needs to stop exhibiting the 'mental fragility' in having to look over at her bench with the pained expression and inner monologue after a few UEs in a game when still leading 4-1 in the set.

Probably same for Sakkari, she also needs to mentally reset, she’s too tight and nervous in key moments, but she certainly plays well when she’s losing.

I can't believe in this sh*t WHAT A COMEBACK! And what a match! probably the second or third greatest comeback of the elite TENNIS in general this year the third without any doubt (Nadal vs. Medvedev the 1st, Medvedev vs. Félix we may talk about). Anett started the match the way she finished almost flawless, Sakkari just dropped down her level a lil bit right in the last 3 games what costed the match obviously, she was stable the whole match, Anett up and down many times that makes the comeback even bigger. Grown to be a fan of both over the 2021 season, so this was a tough pick! Sakkari was let down by a few poor decisions based on these highlights, and a pattern seems to be emerging where she fails to close out matches. Anett's high-percentage game edged out in this one, since she's also quite the agile player like Sakkari. Still, great match for both and hopefully we see them play consistently throughout the year!

What a comeback victory by Anett Kontaveit. Despite all setbacks she believed in herself and that she could win this match and was rewarded. Just amazing comeback. Congratulations Annett Kontaveit for your 6th WTA singles tittle. She just literally stole the tittle from Sakkari. Just phenomenal comeback. What nerves she has. Jelena Ostapenko should learn from Kontaveit such mental strength. Dmitry Tursonov has done superb job. He transformed Kontaveit from shy barely any match winning player into one mean winning machine. Absolutely amazing. I didn't expect Kontaveit to make such comeback. In fact Kontaveit did to Sakkari in the 3rd set same thing what Sakkari did to her in the 1st set. Won a set from 2:5 with a score of 7:5. Both played awesome tennis. And Sakkari showed just how athletic, physically strong and physically durable she is. She showed why she reached US Open Semi-Final last year. Maria Sakkari's stamina is truly one of her biggest trump cards. Maria Sakkari really can withstand quite big workload. She is very fit and physically athletic tennis player. That allowed her to stay in this match until the end. Winning one 3 hour match and then almost winning another 3 hour match asks to have very big stamina. But in the end Anett's bigger fighting spirit and bigger desire to win this match was the deciding factor in this match. Anett Kontaveit simply wanted to win this match more than Maria Sakkari. Maria Sakkari too wanted to win this match, but Kontaveit willpower was stronger than Sakkari's. Also Anett Kontaveit simply was mentally stronger than Sakkari. Insane comeback victory by Anett Kontaveit. Comeback from 2:5 down in the 3rd set to win this tournament is simply miraculous. Stunning comeback victory by Anett Kontaveit. What a mental beast she is. When Anett Kontaveit is in this kind of form, almost noone can defeat her. Even Naomi Osaka and Ashleigh Barty would have problems defeating Kontaveit when she is in this kind of form. Anett Kontaveit seems unbeatable at the moment. What a match. And once again Anett Kontaveit gets the better of Maria Sakkari. And once again in 3 sets.

Anett once again showed us how she maintains her focus and controls her emotions, even when she is down 4-1 in the second set. She just doesn’t give up, so tenacious. I love both players but I wish Maria would stop looking to her bench after every shot and having a discussion with them. Not sure how she can keep her focus with the distraction after almost every point. But hope she wins a tournament in 2022. Congratulations to both players.
