Gosh, how I loved 2012! Serena, Vika and Maria at the top of the game, head and shoulder above the rest. SO much intesitiy and drama between them. 2012 was the golden year for WTA. You cannot compare last year to this.

Azarenka used Sharapova's one dimensional stroke very well in this match. She hit the ball very quickly and made sharapova run side to side. If player can't overwhelm over sharapova on stroke like Serena, that's the way to win over Sharapova.

But Serena does the same thing. She’s just much stronger than both of these ladies. Serena completely overwhelms Sharapova, a lot of times Serena doesn’t even hit that hard against her. Serena takes the ball so early and moves Maria from side to side.

@@jameshampton5659 I agree, but there was a period when Azarenka owned Sharapova on hard courts and the grand slams, and it didn’t help that Azarenka actually gave Serena a real challenge.

@bigray1999 yeah I agree with you but that’s just hardcourts. Azarenka didn’t win shit on grass or clay. Sharapova had the career gs, which is why she’s a better player than Azarenka as a whole

@@jameshampton5659 Sharapova was the better player as a whole. But Azarenka was the women to beat after Serena throughout 2012-2013. Plus, Azarenka had that injury in 2014. She sort of like find her rhythm back in 2016, unfortunately she got pregnant.
