This is one of the best matches of all time and one of the best slam finals. Both players were incredible. Serena's fitness and movement was close to what it was before her knee surgery, but her overall game was better than in 2002. Azarenka did very well to make this match so close. Her all court game was incredible. Seeing performances like this makes you wonder why she won just 2 slams. The 3rd set was something else. This videos brings back so many memories.

azarenka had just 2 slams because of the generation she played in, unfortunate but she's still a great player and 2 slams is still great

Serena almost gifted away, recovered just in time. In the second set Azarenka won 62 with no winners 😂 only Serena’s errors

@pasqualeferraro84 Have you ever considered that those errors Serena made was as a result of Azarenka raising her level? Give credit where it's due. It was a spectacular match, and both players played their part. My favorite player won yet I respect the efforts of Azarenka.

@@kofipokuantwi-boateng5446 not the unforced errors. That is what Serena usually needs to control. As she has proven (and said) when a player steps up their play it makes her upgrade and adjust also. Serena oftentimes starts out slowly, and her level of play usually upgrades as she plays. Sometimes if she has won the first set easily, she will let her guard down and start to make more unforced errors. This sometimes allows the opponent to make gains. Her only weakness was (and she as well as others have acknowledged) controlling her UNFORCED errors. Her style of play lends itself to more errors anyhow. But, it's the UNFORCED errors that is the biggest problem she has.

You're right... She's giving points away with many unforced errors.

What makes Serena great is that she can pull off some accurate and powerful hits when she was down at key moments. She gets stronger mentally and physically when people doubt her ability to win the match.

This was a match for the ages. Crazy high level from both, pressure packed rallies and the highest of stakes. I remember being on the edge of my seat for the entire 3rd set. Such an epic battle and win for Serena.

It was a great match, and I also was nervous by the time the third set had begun.

Soo nobody is talkin abt how the highlights from this match were already posted nd they took it down jus to posted again a few days ago? they also took down the 2013 final against azarenka i guess theyll post that one again too ?🤔

I think it always rattled Serena due to the fact that she was playing on home soil at the US Open and never had more crowd support. It is a testament to all her three notable outbursts happening there.

People also choose to ignore how the 2001 Indian wells finals, and 2004 us open quarter final robbery impacted her. She didn't have these melt down at the other slams including the French Open where she suffered so many painful losses. People just love to hate on the Williams sisters.

Watching the US open 2024 and had to come and watch this to remind me of how Serena had an INSANE balance on court. I miss her so much on the court 🖤✨

Watching this match in 2024, Azarenka appears to have so much more power and precision behind her shots back then than she does on tour now. Great final match! Serena is a legend.
