This song is truly an uplifting song in times of adversity and when life is rough, she performed this song also at Tokyo and MSG but this version tops them!! Her voice was rich, thick and powerful throughout the whole performance! Easily the best song she has written in her career.

I guess I will add on some MORE unmentioned FACTS about this, one song, not on Mariah's Discography lol. This song was originally written by Mariah FOR Gloria Estefan (of Miami Sound Machine and then a Solo Artist in her own right) and Gloria was going to sing it in a Movie Soundtrack for a movie of the same name (Hero). However, at the last minute, being dramatic here, her ex-husband, tommy matolla (no respect AT ALL for this man and that is why I left his B**ch of a name lower-cased), tommy was also the Head of Columbia/Sony Music, Mariah's music label since her start. Anyway, the point is, soon to be ex-husband tommy matoto, told Mariah to keep the song Hero, which she wrote within minutes of being told about writing a song for Gloria about this new Movie etc... tommy told Mariah to KEEP THE SONG for herself. I guess I could give him credit for that, nah f**k him lol. P.S. This was actually the song Mariah hated to perform most of all, until she saw how her fans loved the song and how she heard the stories (PLURAL) of how this one song saved many many of her fans lives. It was after that and 9-11 that she had a new-found appreciation for a song she loathed at one point in her centuries long career!!
