You most DEFINITELY have heard Mariah songs other than her Xmas songs being as she’s top 3 best selling female artists of all time and has the most #1s out of any solo artist in history, she has 19. U have probably heard “we belong together”, “fantasy”, “always be my baby”, “touch my body”, “obsessed”, and “it’s a wrap”. Some of these thru tiktok because some were ENORMOUS trending sounds on tiktok and social media, and others thru the radio and stores because these are like her biggest hits IN THE US ofc. So assuming ur from the US, you’ve definitely heard most of these and possibly even more by her. It also depends on ur age, she was the biggest artist of the 90s, so much so to where she was awarded artist of the decade and EVEN MILLENNIUM, and she had song of the decade too AND the longest running #1 song of all time until recently when a song called “old town road” in 2019 broke that record.

Babyface did an immaculate job on vocal production. He arranged it so it never sounded like a competition. He shined on Whitney’s power while shining on Mariah’s range. The bridge is especially well thought out. Cuz the fist line Mariah sings lower than Whitney. The next line she harmonizes higher than her. Whitney singing the line “resilient voice” was also meaningful.

We were gifted two of the greatest collaborations of all time in 97 and 98 when Whitney and Mariah did this duet, and Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand did Tell Him together. Mariah was 3 inches taller than Whitney, I've always wondered if Whitney wore her heels and Mariah wore a long dress and flat shoes. The media wanted to make a competition between the two and there never was and didn't need to be. Mariah already loved Whitney when she broke onto the music scene. If you want another powerhouse female pairing, watch Whitney and Cece Winans sing a gospel style version of Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Those two women regarded each other as sisters and it shows there, they were just having fun singing together and we were allowed to watch.

My first ever seeing this video and it brought tears to my eyes as well, but for a slightly different reason. My wife was Whintey Houstons double, from Nyeri in Kenya, I showed her mother a photo of Witney Houston together with Kevin Costner from the movie the Bodyguard , she was sure it was her daughter. She was only 22 and the local doctors gave her 2 yrs to live, as she had HIV, neither of us new at the time. I didnt, so it must have been from her previous boyfriend, I then watched Freddy Mercury go thought what he did, and I was helpless, Mentally she had a problem coping, and we split ,but not because of me, I would have given her every drop of my blood. It's rare i can watch any video of her without the tears rolling as they did here, and its 35yrs ago now. Whitney of course was her Idol, Such a wasted talent

This is such a moving duet, it deserves all the awards and the love.
