This is a remake. Brenda K Starr is the original artist, and before Mariah got a recording contract, she used to sing backup for Brenda K Starr. I love Mariah, but I do like the original better. I think Whitney had much better consistency with her remakes than Mariah did. Mariah's originals, though are largely great.

@Ugh anyone who says "all" of Mariah's music is successful is clearly blinded and hasn't a clue as to what they're talking about and what "factual" even means. Because all of Mariah's music isn't largely successful. Next, calm down, as my original statement wasn't dealing with sales but results. Mariah's covers of Endless Love and I Still Believe, have nowhere near the same results, influence and impact, let alone sales, of Whitney's I Will Always Love You and The Greatest Love of All, for example. The consistency is lacking because most of Mariah's remakes are not as good as her original music. Period. Point blank. Generally, Mariah sings songs she's written or that were written for her better, and her own songs are generally produced better. Mariah has a unique voice and unique delivery and it often times works best with her own material.
