@Analytical Vocal coach she actually helped her get in contact with Tommy Mottola which started her career. I think she was expecting her to do more for her in return but Mariah has thanked her and appreciated Brenda so I'm not sure why she's hating.

This is a remake. Brenda K Starr is the original artist, and before Mariah got a recording contract, she used to sing backup for Brenda K Starr. I love Mariah, but I do like the original better. I think Whitney had much better consistency with her remakes than Mariah did. Mariah's originals, though are largely great.

This comment is factually incorrect. Mariah's covers are largely successful like all of her music. Where is the consistency lacking? Those who know music history know this is a cover but her cover is constantly noted as being better than Brenda's version. Mariah's cover is so amazing, that people really think this is her song. No way do you listen to this and the original and believe the original is bigger..also, Mariah's covers are celebrated constantly for how amazing they are. I think you're just typing things just to type it.

Because all of Mariah's music isn't largely successful. Next, calm down, as my original statement wasn't dealing with sales but results. Mariah's covers of Endless Love and I Still Believe, have nowhere near the same results, influence and impact, let alone sales, of Whitney's I Will Always Love You and The Greatest Love of All, for example. The consistency is lacking because most of Mariah's remakes are not as good as her original music. Period. Point blank. Generally, Mariah sings songs she's written or that were written for her better, and her own songs are generally produced better. Mariah has a unique voice and unique delivery and it often times works best with her own material.
