I notice she was vague about her past up until this point 97. They still let her make music and sing even though they were planning a destruction of Mariah in the works. And they knew she was too gifted to kill and clone. But when she broke free from mk ultra (refer to real life) research it for urself. aka her break down. They cloned her. That's why her voice "changed" bcuz it's not her but a DNA replica of her but still inferior to the orginal. Whitney suffered the same fait when she ended her arranged marriage and retired. BEFORE U JUDGE ME RESEARCH ALL OF THIS. CLONING, CELEBRITY CLONES ETC......it's surprising people don't ask more questions when major changes happen. ttuth can be hard to swallow.

@theultimatesvengali44304 жыл бұрын
I love this opinion. can you describe more examples of what you mean?
@schoolgirloutfitmariah93044 жыл бұрын
Mike Ditri I think when people look at the Butterfly era they think of it being her liberating, party animal moment. But it wasn’t. Yes, she got more control over her music, and physical appearance. As she rightfully should’ve long before that. But she was also suffering emotionally. When looking at the album as a whole, aside from Honey, and Babydoll, there’s not much going on to make you think she’s happy. I mean, The Roof is about spending a night with Jeter, and forgetting “the sorrow and the pain” that Tommy caused her, but just for a night. My All is pretty much the same, and risking her life in a literal sense. Breakdown is about emotional turmoil, hence the name, lyricism aside. Close My Eyes is about her childhood, and the trauma she endured during it that still affects her till this day. Butterfly ( the song itself ) was written in a very interesting way. It was what she wished Tommy wanted for her, instead of him being bitter, and trying to sabotage her. Again, very sad, and personal things all throughout this album. Honestly, most of the production doesn’t leave you feeling this way. Breakdown is hella catchy for example, but the lyrics are a totally different story, and it goes against the actual vibe of the song. And most people don’t look too deep into lyrics. Or they think it’s meant to be an in general kind of thing. But it’s obvious hers were personal, and she was going through it. A truly beautiful album, that I don’t think most people understand it for what it is. ,

To everyone saying that Tabitha conducted a salacious interview and that it was wrong of her, this was more than just your everyday Mariah Carey album release interview. This was a huge tabloid divorce of one of the biggest couples in the 90s popular culture, and Mariah proceeded to make the entire album about her divorce and yet simultaneously didn't want to talk about it. Also I'm pretty sure Tabitha left MTV of her own choice, and proceeded to become more of an investigative author. It would have been a failure on Tabitha's part as a journalist for her employer (MTV) to not take advantage of this rare opportunity to get the inside story of one of music's most popular and successful figures at this point. It is what it is, Mariah knew what she was getting into with Tabitha by agreeing to do this interview. The press needs celebrities and celebrities need the press. Mariah did the same thing by signing up to do Oprah in 1997 and then giving Oprah nothing in terms of a story.
@xejelah2 жыл бұрын
Mariah wasn't divorced, they were legally separated. In fact, asking if there would be a reconciliation was one of Tabitha's questions. None of Butterfly was about them breaking up. Literally, only the song Butterfly itself is about Tommy and what she wishes he'd say to her. Most of the album is about Derek Jeter and her personal insecurities.

I think we all need to take a chill pill calling out Ms. Tabitha Soren. She was one of the more reputable music journalists on the 1990s, and I think she was quite informed and impartial when it came to interviewing Mariah. There were A LOT of rumors going on about Mariah, and it was Tabitha’s job to get Mariah to address them. That was the entire purpose of Mariah doing this interview which was to promote the album and explain the inspirations behind them. The same thing with Mariah going on Oprah and giving her nothing to talk about. Sure was Tabitha being quite a bit dismissive perhaps toward Mariah’s new musical direction? Absolutely, a lot of people (particularly white people) were. Mariah was a proven pop star and people weren’t sure yet of hip hop’s lasting impact. Obviously Mariah was the smart one, but do we have to be so rude to a journalist who maybe has a different perspective or lack of understanding?
@afrosensei5308 Жыл бұрын
I agree with this. I love Mariah, but if I was interviewing her, I'd be a little frustrated with her only alluding to things and not going more in-depth, even about something as benign as a studio session. While I understand she had to think about her image and didn't want all of the behind-the-scenes messiness out there (that we know now because of the book) because it could complicate things, it doesn't make for a good or interesting interview. Though I agree Tabitha's, and by extension, Kurt Loder's attitude towards hip hop was more than a little dismissive
@Marc-zi5cq Жыл бұрын
@@afrosensei5308 Tabitha was super cool with 2 Pac though so i wouldnt say she was dismissive in general. I dont know, she seems to prefer rock but they would use her for 2 Pac interviews if she didnt get it at all.
@afrosensei5308 Жыл бұрын
@Marc-zi5cq I have seen some of the Tupac interview, and they had a good rapport. I'm not saying she didn't get hip hop at all. I'm saying in the case of Mariah, there was an element of "What is she doing and why?" There's also that infamous joke Sandra Bernhard made about Mariah being more "n-word-ish"' all of sudden. Mariah was a bona fide pop star who was going out of her way to incorporate hip hop and less pop-leaning R&B into her music, and the reaction from more than a few mainstream outlets was she was trend hopping and the music she was making wasn't to be taken seriously (though truthfully she hadn't been a critical darling up to that point). Because hip hop still wasn't being taken seriously (though at this time that attitude was starting to change).

Btw the men hugging her and close to her are all DL gay men. Folks called Mariah a whores but she kept company with gay black hiphop stars of the time. She was brilliant to do hiphop in these days bcuz they all had good ideas. don't believe everything u see on TV. it's ALL an ILLUSION.

Tabitha was super controversial but this was a good interview. She asked questions I don’t think many really dug deep into at that time.
