I can do a little whistle (I can go up to A7 but I only have control over D6#). And this would happen whenever im trying to hit a whistle when my throat is not clear especially after hitting notes in other registers. Actually if you have seen that video from ariana, she also said that sometimes her voice does this and she doesn't know what's going on (LOL because obviously she's on the same level as most of us who knows how to hit whistle but cant hit it properly). I guess this is why mariah is so amazing that she can go from chest/head to whistle so easy and she barely have problems hitting them in her performances. This video shows a few examples of that and you can see when this happen she was being very smart by either avoiding the whistle (emotion, vogan1991) or waiting for a few second to have her throat clear (emotion 1991 MTV). AMAZING MARIAH.

I have something similar in my voice when I add strobe to falsetto or do something similar on the lowest notes of the voice. Once I sang D2 and D1 at the same time, but the strange thing is that D2 is my bottom note and I could never get below. Something similar happened with my falsetto, I sang E5 and E4 at the same time. There was a feeling of some kind of split in my voice, I was terribly frightened thinking that this was something abnormal, but my vocal teacher reassured me and said that this happens rarely, but still happens.

I’m pretty sure the whistle of "HATEU" is simply multiple tracks of Mimi recorded & played together. I don’t get polyphonic or diplophonic from that. It just sounds like she’s whistling with a lower harmony added for effect. Similar thing is in the song "Bliss", where every chorus is slightly different than the last, but if you really listen (or get the right app/software to separate the parts), she has like four harmonies singing together. It’s so cool to hear each nuance and subtlety done exactly the same for each part! We know Mariah records her own backing vocals, hence why her main live singers sound so much like her-they have to! Especially Trey! Mimi has such a great idea of layering harmonies. She loves to layer vocals for that “full” feeling and effect. At the very least, she’ll have two harmonies, like an octave apart, if not more. It’s often her middle range with a lower harmony, like a low octave, one singing the third, one is singing the fifth, and one is an octave above (1-3-5-1 or 1-3-5-8).

What about the perfectly harmonized split towards the end of All In Your Mind on her debut album that she left on record unedited? Can't remember which newspaper/magazine article I read that pointed that oddity out. And there I was assuming after almost 2 decades of having listened ho the damn thing that she just overdubbed the harmony lol. But once you're aware of it, you'll actually notice that she couldn't have done it on purpose stacking her vocals in the studio like that as she does, since uou can hear a certain rawness/imperfection to it because it was an accident, but a beautiful one. 😜
@biggityboggityboo87758 жыл бұрын
This isn't intended. It's 'scratchyness' or 'raspyness' finding its way into her whistle register. It's mainly due to vocal damage/fatigue (temporary from a cold etc or permanent) with her chords not vibrating uniformly along their edge.
@MartyMusic7779 жыл бұрын
In each of these instances, her voice was either tired or she had been belting up a storm, because that's the only way you could get a false-cord function like this to occur. I know that when I've been singing like CRAZY, I'll go into a super-light head voice and sing C5 with a clear-as-day C4 happening an octave below. It's super cool to me, but I don't think Mariah meant for any of these notes to happen.

wtf is wrng with you park santiago???? Froster only sayd what he thought and you think you know it all lol. Let me tell you something honty im 29 and i actually grew up to MC and went to a lot of her europe concerts and i even met her a couple of times during meet and greets at her concert......long before the fucking selfie instagram crap.....back when people were actually normal and disnt use words like im shook and its lit! Im just gon lay it out to honty. That note of infinity was a C#6 note sung in her whistle register by blowing out air like she usually does. Its not falsetto nor headvoice! ITs a headvoice note yes but sung in the whistle register! I do it all the time. For example i can hit a B6 in airy whsitle and slide it all the way down to a A5 note! Technically im still in the whistle register but using the whistle to go down and hit headvocie notes. The vocal chords are a very tricky and ahrd thing to understand sometimes. I can also hit whistle notes usingmy headvoice. I can go all the way up to a G6. Using my headvocie to hit the whistle is actually much healthier and i can hit it all the time all day every day comapred to the airy whistles that mariah uses. They sound very heavenly and airy but they are very unreliable sometimes. On top of that MC s nodules really make her unique in the sence that her vocie does really strange things sometimes like in this video where she creates two pitches with 1 note. Or when she does a belting note and breaks it or goes up or down after holding the note, she makes little whsitle cracks inbetween her voice and stuff like that.
