One thing about Mariah other than her multiple style of wrestling experiences is her humour and comedic skills they did so good teaming her up with Toni both entertaining individuals

Great video! I absolutely love Mariah, I'm so excited for the success she's had and what's still to come. When she signed with AEW I said she was gonna be one of the faces of their women's division and one of the faces of women's wrestling as a whole before the end of 2024. Mariah is such a star

5:07 you gotta give Storm credit. She played it so well, she screamed in pain for awhile and just went silent when she was "knocked out" That's when I said "ooo😬ooo that's an interestingly good idea to do" it shows the extents of what heel May is capable of doing.

That depends on Tony Khan's booking.

She's already a superstar imo, but it all comes to TK booking and how he capatilizes on this storyline in the longterm

They look like sisters and need that boost to be a superstar. She also has a lot of charisma and a future women's world champion.

That storyline with her and Timeless has been done pretty well. The girls got a ton of talent in and out of the ring. Shes gotta big opportunity on a big stage at All-In.

When it comes to building female stars from the ground up, in my opinion Julia Hart, Skye Blue and Mariah May are the three greatest success stories for AEW. All three are long term investments that have the potential for big pay offs. Skye's evolution has been slower than Julia and Mariah, but she's starting to come into her own.

Mariah defies the pro wrestling stereotypes of this era in at least two ways. I've noticed that in the past decade and a half, as what one might call "fourth-wave" feminism has kicked in, the most prominent female wrestlers have trended toward the "butch" or "tomboy" side of the physical spectrum, AEW's own Marina Shafir and Ruby Soho being two prime examples. But Mariah, even more so than Toni, is clearly a throwback to the cute/bombshell "girly-girl" aesthetic of WWE during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras, when a female athlete's attractiveness - and distinctly feminine attractiveness, at that - was considered as important as her wrestling ability (the epitome of this being Sable, of course) . I don't intend to insult Mariah by implying she's no different from Sable or any other of the bimbo wrestlers of the past; I'm merely pointing out that it's difficult not to see her as a nostalgia act, and suspect that she would have been even more popular 25 years ago (though she wouldn't have been taken nearly as seriously back then, of course, so I suppose it all works out). Mariah's heel persona is also a sharp rebuke to the standard characterization of "pretty people good, ugly people bad." While this stereotype is defied all the time in Hollywood movies, it tends to be the exception rather than the rule in women's wrestling, and certainly was so in the past. ("The Beautiful People" and LayCool" have probably been the two most famous exceptions.) But now not only is Abadon, who is a literal zombie, being portrayed sympathetically, but Mariah May has shown herself to be just as ugly on the inside as she is beautiful on the outside. I love that type of villainess - and, since we're not likely to get it much more in the future, AEW might as well go for broke with it!

Exactly 💯 you nailed it.

@@victorbilly4769 Not quite. I notice that Mariah has been changing her personality in the past month, away from the adorable girl and more toward Toni's slightly anachronistic, posh British lady. I hope she doesn't overdo it, because that's Toni's thing.

I'm not seeing it. She's not very good in the ring and isn't an especially good promo. Very easy on the eye but that's about it.

I think they could turn that to an advantage, though. Mariah could be depicted as a shameless coward much as Ric Flair was when he was a heel, loudly begging for mercy when cornered only to get in a cheap shot when the opponent eased up. It would be especially effective for Mariah to use this ploy on Toni, because I suspect that there is some sentimental streak within Toni that still loves Mariah, and is much more devastated by the betrayal than by the possibility of Mariah taking her title. A very good bit to do at All In would be for someone or other to engineer things so that the referee was knocked out and Toni had the opportunity to hit Mariah with HER championship belt. Mariah could scream and sob and plead for sympathy, saying something like, "I didn't mean it! I didn't want to do it, but I was scared! I thought it was the only way I could get the better of you. I just wanted to be great, like you've always been!" This would of course lead to Toni comforting Mariah and saying, "I forgive you, my child. I forgive you." Then Mariah comes right out with a nose-breaking headbutt!
