5:59 is so important! There are so many stretches that are harming your body. I had an ankle injury from this exact stretch.

Maria, I would love to watch you react to videos of other types of dances that maybe you’re not used to doing! For example hip hop/ street dancing, Fosse Jazz, Irish dancing, etc. I’m really curious to know your opinion on these other styles and if they inspire you at all ballet-wise! Love your channel!

As a dancer with Ehlers-Danlos, that's a hard YES!!!! to the hip pop. OMG it feels heavenly. We really do adjust our bodies like this throughout the day, for comfort mostly. It vexed people when I was little ("stop dancing in the store!" "but mom, it makes it so I can walk without my legs hurting!") 💙

I can't believe I just found out about these videos, Maria, I love them! I learned so much just from one video, very valuable insight. I have been dancing as a hobby for 21 years now (since I was 3), and ballet is one of my favorite dance styles. I have been doing a dance workout and dancing every day for a little over 11 months now. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't dance anymore, I love it so much!

I love that quote from the end about ballet being good for your health….in moderation! And I’m really pleased that you are emphasising where certain practices can cause excess damage. I can’t image anyone seriously believing they will escape a ballet career without some kind of injuries that will affect them later. But seeing so many respected dancers like yourself advocate good technique and looking after your body will hopefully help some aspiring dancers to avoid unnecessary injuries from less advisable exercises or extreme levels of repetition.

I think it was either the fourth or fifth TikTok, of the two guys in a TV show, is that some version of "World of Dance," which had aired during the summers on NBC (US TV) with Derek Hough, Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo?
