One thing that sticks out for me about Marianne is she speaks kindly about Mick. That’s pure class because I really don’t think he deserves it. I am glad Keith is kind to her. I would loved to have heard Anita’s perspective on the Stones, that probably would have been interesting.

I really liked the friendship between Marianne and Anita. It's really sad people claim Anita to have destroyed Brian Jones and that she was a troublemaker, Marianne knew her better than most people.

I’ve been at NA meetings with Anita Pallenberg. She got into recovery long after Marianne, and was a mess at about her late 60s. I saw Marianne walk her into an NA Convention in London in the earlyish 90s, and Anita walked in holding onto Marianne’s arm, with a walking stick in the other hand. She walked with difficulty, and looked ancient (and she had been such a great beauty). I know some things, but I have no intention of telling them here. I wasn’t surprised when she died a few years later. I’m amazed that Marianne used until she was about 40, especially because she was young (like me) when she became addicted, and most people get into recovery in their late 20s/early 30s. So she was hardcore enough. I can’t imagine using until you actually get old like Anita. I think it’s great the way Marianne talks about Mick. She loved him a lot after all. Why don’t you think he deserves it?

@@anibalcesarnishizk2205 she doesn’t actually really have an aristocratic background though. Her mother was a poor German aristocrat, who was a dancer in reality. And her father isn’t aristocratic at all. I’ve never heard her speak about it herself, but because an American wrote her biography, he made a big thing about it. And she had no love of any of that nonsense, unlike Mick.

She seems to have an innate class, evocative intelligence and was just such a beauty in her day. A survivor and inspiration more than just about anyone you'd care to mention

I met Marianne in 1968 when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke. She sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.

I recall seeing the book 'Faithfull' in book stores, but only read parts of it. She has certainly had an interesting life.

In these last 10 years and into the future, Faithfull will never answer anymore questions about the Rolling Stones. She has made that quite clear and continues to make it a stipulation in interviews to come.

She obviously wants to remain friends with them and is no doubt bored with them

But that sounds way too much like US doublethink. If you have no idea how to cope with a bigger-than-life guest, and moreover suffer from a self-evident inferiority complex, you should stick to hillbillies from the Appalachians - or 'whatever'.
@paulinebutcherbird4 жыл бұрын
@@BogushCh I think you are talking nonsense. She was not a top level celebrity and he did his best to give her a very pleasant time on his show.
@paulinebutcherbird4 жыл бұрын
I don't agree. I thought his tone and interview were perfect. However, it did seem like he was thinking, 'okay she's a minor celebrity, why don't my producers get me bigger stars?'
